I used to have this problem with my Siamese cat "Jaz" she used to always do this when we would watch television in the living room. She would sit right on the table and meow at us for attention. Along with this, she would jump on the dining room table and look for table scraps and then move on to the counters for more scraps. I used to scold her and tap her on the nose and tell her no, but she just started doing it when we were not around, so we asked around and our local vet said to get some sticky paper and stick it on the table or area where the cat likes to jump up. By yelling or getting mad, the cat is more likely to think you are nuts than they are in trouble. By using something like sticky paper, bubble wrap, noise makers, or even upside down mouse traps, the cat learns that getting on the counters means they get surprised and learn not to do it.

Spraying the cat with water or frightening it some other way will only teach it to keep off the table when you're around - it may still get up there when the coast is clear.
Does the cat have a place where you DO want him to jump up? Give him an alternate, high place to hang out, like a different table or book case or one of those flat-top kitty condos. Pet him whenever you see him there. He'll like having his own place.

Either squirt him with water every time he goes near the table, tap him with a rolled up magazine ( worked on my cat), my other cat responded to tape put around the edge of whatever he is jumping on, cats always jump on the edge of a table, and the sticky on the feet is really irritating to a cat, or lining the edge of the table in tin foil, most cats hate the feel and sound of tin foil. Hope this helps.

My cat gets onto the table 2...... my cat gets on the table though when there is food on the table and grabs a huge piece of something then meows or eats something off a plate.... I guess you could yell at your cat or lock her in a room when you want to use the table so she cant get on it..... Thats not a good reason to get rid of a cat is it?? is it that big of a problem!!!

Put tape or contact paper upside down on the table so when he jumps up, he's got tape on his paws. Cats hate this. He will associate this annoyance with jumping on the table and will stop.

Put wet tin foil in the table- your cat will not like the sound or the feel on its paws.

You can try a spray bottle of water or can air, when the cat does something wrong just give him a shot of it..
It has worked on some of my cats.
