Well, the last time I was in Mexico, Sept 2001 (just before the 9/11 attacks) a passport was not needed if you were from Canada or the U.S. However, it's very possible that has changed, I have not been able to find precise information .....

If you are able to get a passport, then I would just do it. In this day and age, I think everyone should have one. It's not that big of a deal or expense to get one.

Yes, you will need a passport to travel from Canada to Mexico. When at the Mexico/United States Border, your canadian birth certificate and/or photo ID will not be sufficient.

If you travel by air, you will need a passport.

You do now, but if Bush has his way we'll all be Mexicans and won't need passports to travail into Canada, Mexico, or the USA.

If you travel by land yes you do need a passport. Unless you travel by plane all you need is your citizenship
