When they finish school- within reason. If they want to go to school until they are 30, it should stop. Most support arrangements provide support for the child through high school, then arrangements are made to pay for their college education. After that- they're on their own!!!
If they don't finish high school, they need to be supporting themselves by working, yet the support order may say something different if they are not 18 yet. Check your support order.........

A parent should complete his financial obligation that is ordered by the court and then be there for the child after the age of 18 in any way he or she can. Just because the court says you must pay support until 18, does not mean that you just cut off all help to the child at 18. If the child lived with the parent paying the support, I don't think you would just cut them off financially because they turn 18. Of course, there are the dead beat parents who don't even pay what they are ordered...hate that.

You're no longer obligated to when they become an adult. Unless you have a court order saying you have to pay support through college.

Once a child is in college, they need to be working at least part time. It teaches them the value of work, how to budget with smaller amounts of money... and also teaches them to lean on themselves rather than you for their future needs.
