The apostle said, "Who will deal with this rascal for me?" Whereupon Salim b. Umayr, brother of B. Amr b. Auf, one of the "weepers", went forth and killed him.” Abu Afak, was from Banu Amr Ibn Awf, and was an old man who had attained the age of one hundred and twenty years. He was a Jew, and used to instigate the people against the Apostle of Allah, and composed (satirical) verses [about Muhammad]. Salim Ibn Umayr who was one of the great weepers [Muslims consider weeping as an act of piety] and who had participated in Badr [one of the raids of Muhammad against a merchant caravan], said, "I take a vow that I shall either kill Abu Afak or die before him. He waited for an opportunity until a hot night came, and Abu Afak slept in an open place. Salim Ibn Umayr knew it, so he placed the sword on his liver and pressed it till it reached his bed. The enemy of Allah screamed.......

Watch out for hadiths brother, which were collected 200 years after Prophet Muhammad death. Most hadiths were found to be made up. The Quran is the sure guide, Muhammad only followed the Quran. So beware of hadiths, enitire religions have been distorted by people who spoke for propehts and followed reports of others instead of the Holy Book. Allah knew people would make up things so he promised us who follow it that he will preserve it. With that said, the only reason, if it is true, that Prophet Muhammad would do that if the guys were killing other Muslims in the land unjustly. That is the law of teh Quran, people can only be kiiled in times a war and for captial punishment, unless the victum of the family forgoes it. Many, many hadiths are wrong, and many others are being prove wrong today. They have inner contradictions and many others are not compatible with the message of Allah, the Quran. Hadiths were collected during the time when Shias and Sunnias began fighting politically so you can imagine one for wither side putting this in circulation to lead others to kill people. the Quran is free from falsehood, but Hadiths are not God's revelation because Allah'spromised us that he would protect it. The Quran is our guide, not things people have attributed to the prophet. You should study the history of Hadiths. Hadiths and Sunnah are not the same thing.

this is the reason: and used to instigate the people against the Apostle of Allah, and composed (satirical) verses [about Muhammad]. Therefore to end such acts, killing is the way.
12] But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and taunt you for your Faith, fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith: for their oaths are nothing to them: that thus they may be restrained.
9:12
2:9:Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors

Not because he was a jew.

Yawn
lies
lies
lies

These stories are in the very early books whose compilers were not careful or very stringent about what they wrote and they included many fabricated stories from liars

Where are the chains of narrators for these hadiths?

Asma bint Marwan

Prophet Muhammad(saw) has been accused of ordering the killing of Asma bint Marwan after she had insulted him(saw) through her poetry. She was a poetess and a mother for whose death our Prophet(saw) is being held responsible.

Any student of Islam knows that the life of Prophet Muhammad(saw) has been described in detail in what he call the “Ahadith”. Ahadith in whole are basically collected stories, events, actions of the Prophet(saw). However not all the stories transmitted down by a chain of narrators are cent percent true. There are many sahih, hasan, da'eef (weak) ahadith. For Muslims it was very important to develop a science of hadith to separate truth from falsehood.

There are two places where this story about the killing of Asma bint Marwan has been reported and those are:

1) Kitab at-Tabaqat al-Kabir

and

2) Kinz ul Ummal

In Kinz ul Ummal this story is related under number 44131 and has been attributed to three people namely Ibn Asaker, Ibn Sad and Ibn Adiyy.

Ibn Adiyy is also the author of the book Al-Kamel and in that book he has mentioned this incident and on the authority of Jafar Ibn Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Ibn As-Sabah on authority of Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim Ash-Shami on authority of Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj Al-Lakhmi on authority of Mujalid on authority of Ash-Shu'abi on authority of Ibn 'Abbas, he has added the following:

this isnad (chain of reporters) is not narrated on authority of Mujalid but by Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj and they all (other reporters in the chain) accuse Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj of forging it. (Al-Kamel Vol 6, pg. 145)

Ibn al-Gawzi in his book Al-Ilal (Vol. 1, pg. 279) mentioned that this report was false. This report is also listed among other flawed reports.

Hence in conclusion this report is nothing but a fabricated lie – a forgery and should be discarded.

Abu Afak

Muslims have questioned the authenticity of this story. Based on the criteria of accepting a narration, this narration fails in not being able to provide a verifiable isnad (link). Hence, it is unknown who originally narrated this story, and therefore this story is not accepted as part of Islamic history, nor can be taken as a precedent.

Furthermore, this story does not appear in any Islamic literature until 150 years after the death of Muhammad.

Perhaps a better question would be -if you hate the Prophet (pbuh) so much - why are you named after him ?

Because like the majority of religion (especially Islam and Christianity), dissidence is dealt with murder.
