I am a 24 year old male it just started recently could it be a virus of some sort

How old are you? It could be night sweats associated with peri-menopausal symptoms or any hormonal imbalance. Talk to you doctor.

There a few causes. Some are hereditary. Excessive night sweating could be a symptom of diabetes or hyperthyroidism. It could also be a symptom of a problem with your nervous system which would include the brain.
If this is something that has just started to happen to you recently then you need to have it checked soon. It should be checked in any case.

Night sweats can be symptomatic of a several nasty illnesses, one of them is Lymphoma. Go to your doctor.

there's is a name for this condition, but i can't remember what it is. there are treatments available, so go to your doctor. hope this helps.
