well our teacher is encouraging us to do this well he gave out the list and well he's goign to make everyone participate and give them 10 points extra credit if u get the word right and well i'm kinda interested in it i was my class champion in 5th grade ut then screwed up in the school championship....but i don't wanna be like a nerd or anything for taking this so seriously...i dunno do you think i should take this seriously or should i just study i little bit and not care tht much bout it???

Depends on the prize :D No, actually spelling bees are lots of fun and I recommend you to waste your brain on it and try to win. People will be able to see you are really good and maybe youll get on the teachers good side for some time :P:P

Just the recognition from winning can help you to win scholarships and you can gain national recognition if you go all the way. Even if you just win locally you usually get your name in the paper and stuff. People will think it is pretty cool. People who know you will know that your not nerdy and you can maybe set an example for your friends. You can do "smart things" and still be cool!
Just do it!
