Well, some people speak English as a second, or even third language, and then there's the handful of people that are dyslexic or something like that. But that still only accounts for about 1/4 of the people that are on Y! Answers.
The other people seriously need to get a dictionary.
What I REALLY cannot stand are the 'OMGLOLZWTF. their is no reazon 4 us too lurn how 2 spell LOL!!11!!1', people. They're just lazy and ignorant.
And I'm guessing that you are excluding people that make typos, as you can generally tell when it is a typo. Ex: "What is teh problem with my computer?"

people don't do things to improve their spelling skills. as an example them young'ns only play with computer games rather than read books.
typos
typing so fast that correcting typos would cause one to slow down
because we now have spell check so our care to learn the proper spelling has changed?

I have no idea!! I'm in the 5th grade and I'm an expert speller! Maybe because this is the internet, so people are just trying to be cool, or they have spelling problems. Or maybe because they are just too lazy to spell correctly!

I think the bigger question is why won't they even take the the time to hit the spell check button.

I dont't know because you can read things you don't know how to spell are you can say things you don't knoe how to spell.
