I have been to the doctor with the feeling that my heart was going to stop. After a ton of blood , heart and other tests they've determined that im fine. I just have sum anxiety. My doc then gave me lexapro and after 2 pills I threw them away(id rather deal with the anxiety than the side affects). My question is, can a thyroid issues cause anxiety/depression. I used to take 2 sea kelp iodine pills a night(1 before my work out and 1 after) im thinking this was too much or maybe too little. I’ve stopped taking them for about 2 months now and that’s exactly when the symptoms began

Yes, Yes, Yes! I had the exact same thing! I started out with panic attacks and thought my heart was going into overdrive then failure. Then the doctor wanted to put me on Anti-depressants. After about a year of dealing with that, I got off the anti-D's and started feeling like I had a lump in my throat. I had blood work, x-rays, and an ulta-sound done and it turns out that I have a thyroid disease called Hashimotos Disease, and now my doctor has said that it very well could have been all connected. Yes, the thyroid function can play a part in the heart.
