Is the ouija board a genuine tool to contact the evil spiritual dimension or just a huge hoax?

There are many warnings pertaining to not messing around with the witchboard. It is said that you will only come into contact with the evil spirits. However, people still use it for various reasons, such as out of pure curiosity or even for fun. They sell these strange objects at the local stores as toys. Has anyone out there played around with it and what was your experience? Maybe that is why so many strange things are happening in the world today. Too many doorways are being opened for these creatures.

This story is about my family's use of the ouija.

This happened about 40 years ago. It is a scary story.

One Christmas, my father looked for a present for my older brother. In desperation he picked a ouija board. My brother was in the first year of university. After Christmas, he and my youngest sister started using the board alot. They could even get it to spell words.

Later when I did not see it I asked my mother if she knew what happened to it. She took me aside and told me this story.

It was about a week after Christmas and she had stayed up late reading. My brother came down the stairs and mom said she could immediately tell something was wrong. His face was as white as a sheet and he was trembling. Now mom has eight children and had thought she had seen about everything. She was not prepared for what happened next. My brother asked if he could sit in mom's lap and if she could just hug him. (Remember he was twenty years old.) He then related to her that he had had a horrible dream, but it was more evil, vile, and real, than anything he had ever dreamt before. He still remembered it in detail. He was scared. Mom finally calmed him down and after about an hour he was able to go back to bed. (I found out later that he did not sleep for two days.)

She went down back down stairs asking herself what could have caused such a thing. Then she thought about the ouija board. That was it. She had to get rid of it, but how? She would burn it in the fire place. It took her about 15 minutes to get the fire really hot. She then went into the dining room where the ouija was kept. She said that as she got nearer to the board, she felt an evil presence there too. She picked up the board, and went back to the fire. Then something strange happened. She had a very difficult time throwing the ouija into the fire. (When I saw "The Lord of the Rings" and Frodo had trouble thowing the ring into the fire, I was vividly reminded of my mother's story.) She said she finally overcame this presence and threw the ouija in the fire. It was then that she heard the blood curdling cries and moans. They were coming from the board. In desperation she threw more wood on the fire until the moaning ended. Needless to say she did not get much sleep that night. (I have goosebumps from my head to my toes remembering what mom told me.)

My advice "Stay away from that damned ouija!!"

I don't think it's a hoax at all. I use the ouija a lot, and actually did this weekend with a group of friends. I think if you know what you're doing, have an open mind and keep positive energy, then it will be okay. It all depends on how you use the board. I've had to many experiences to name, some good and some bad, and some to far to creepy. There are several theorys on it, such as it's human energy, but I do not believe this to be true. Maybe in some cases, but not all the time. I think it's fun playing the ouija but shouldn't be taken as a joke because weird things can happen.

No "doorways" need to be opened. This world is the domane of evil. Satan is the prince of earth. The forces of evil are around. The use of Ouija boards by those "just playing" can indeed summon an evil force if it is not already present... I believe I saw an evil force that was summoned by use of a Ouija board.... The souls of departed mortal do not come back or communiate with the mortal world in any way.. what are summoned are evil spirits who are very capable of mimicing the departed... any contact with any spirit summoned by occult practices of any kind,whether"playing" or not, is an encounter with evil and very very dangerous.... I have had contact with evil spirits and was convinced of the reality of their existance long befor I came to God and became of The True Christian Faith... I mocked God for a long time after comeing to know evil.... I now know The Truth of God and have His protection from these forces... any one "playing" with them will have no protection...the forces of evil can cause harm to mortals.... do not mess with them.

Further, there is NO evidence that players can contact anything other than their own imaginations. The supernatural claims made concerning its use are often either exaggerated natural events or just plain mistaken (due, in part, to the preexisting expectations of the users).

Humans have an uncanny need for explanations to the phenomena we experience, and further, have a real knack at creating them (often based upon insufficient evidence). We can allow our imaginations to get the best of us in such circumstances.

Usually the burden of proof lies on the one making the claim... in this case the claim itself lies on Mr. Fuld's creative marketing strategy.
