I don't know anyone in the reserves or guard that hasn't deployed, some more than once. I would be skeptical of that claim.

Are you talking about the American army reserves or the Canadian army reserves? In the Canadian forces it would be possible to serve and not be deployed to a combat zone (barring another world war I would assume). In the CF reserves you have to request to be deployed to combat and only get it if there is a opening for a reservist available, if you never request it something would have to go really bad for you to be sent. How ever If that is something that worries you then I would suggest re-thinking joining the Military in any capacity

Check the numbers, there are a whole lot of Guard and Reservists in Iraq right now. It's possible that you might be able to land a reserve job that would not require you to deploy, but it's more likely that you will end up in a job that might require you to deploy at some time.

Anyone and everyone can be deployed. DO NOT JOIN IF YOU THINK YOU WILL GO 6 YEARS WITHOUT DEPLOYMENT. Did you think you were just gonna get all this money and not do anything for it?
With that being said, you can have a job that is not as likely to be deployed, or if you are deployed you probably won't see any combat.
Everyone in the military is there to fight a war. Keep that in mind.

I'm pretty sure that if you joined the reserves you will be deployed, or else have to move somewhere else. My neighbors husband is in the reserves, and 3 years ago they told him that he had to move to washington for 6 months. he's been there ever since.

First, write down exactly what that recruiter said, and if you are accurately reporting her words, you need to turn her butt into the battalion commander for UCMJ violation. Lying isn't (supposed to be) permitted by recruiters, and if lied (by using some clever turn of the phrase) she is bringing disrepute on all the hard working recruiters out there doing their job right.
That being said, I'm willing to bet you either misheard, or she was phrasing it very carefully so she didn't technically lie.
