For example if you are videoing something on the tv late at night. What about computer and fridge plugs?

I think that would depend on the capacity of you switches in your electrial box. If you're on the old fashioned fuses, I wouldn't want to do that. But you can check out your breaker box. That is where I would start. And, if I felt there was too much juice expected from one area, (plug), then I would purchase an extention strip with a kill switch. Whenever there is too much going through the electrical outlet, then the fuse on the power strip will cut the power before it gets too far. This way, you wouldn't have to worry about each outlet. If you can, however, have another switch added to your breaker box for those particular outlets, I would do that.

Be certain that if you go with a power strip, you purchase one that is UL listed.
