Pastry horns
9oz (250g) plain flour
Pinch of salt
8oz (225g) butter
4fl oz (120ml) cold water
1 egg
Caster sugar
Whipped cream
Jam
Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Rub in half the butter, then add water and mix to a dough. Chill for 1 hour. Chill remaining butter.
Place chilled butter between two sheets of greaseproof paper and roll out to a 5x3 inch (13x8cm) rectangle.
Roll out dough on floured surface to 10x8 inch (25x20cm) rectangle. Put butter in centre. Fold down top third over butter, then fold up bottom third. Turn so that folds are to the side. Roll out to 5x14 inch (13x36cm) rectangle and fold again as before. Chill for 15 minutes.
Repeat the rolling, turning and folding four more times, chilling between each process.
Preheat the oven to 425 degF (220degC, GAS 7.)
Roll out dough to 1/8 inch (3mm) thick. Trim to a 15x6 inch (38x15cm) rectangle, then cut into six 1 inch (2.5cm) strips. Glaze the strips with beaten egg, then wrap them, glazed side out, round six pastry horn moulds, starting at the point and overlapping the dough slightly.
Place on a baking tray and dredge with caster sugar. Bake for 10 minutes till crisp and golden. Slide off the moulds and cool.
Fill the horns with cream and jam.
I hope these is the pastry you ask for........
Have fun making these!

Well, if you're talking, like for a pie crust, the major componets are vegetable shortening, flour, salt and water. I've used a recipe from a crisco cookbook my mom always used. Turns out fine. The most important thing to remember is to not handle the dough alot. That's what makes it tough. If you're talking for like danish, then I'd say check out your local library or check out recipesource.com. Ask someone you know that bakes...we all have our favorite recipes.
