We should not worry about what other people might think, but we should also care or consider other people's view and opinion.
To much of everything is bad, so we must try to balance things. There is a time for listening and a time for ignoring.

You shouldn't, but at the same time it really isn't a deficiency. I believe I have some social anxiety. In living with it, I'm very talented in reading what other people think. Sometimes even before they think. It is like having too much empathy, but learning to control the negative side effects.

Empathy is rare and is an extraordinarily good trait.
