why does my female dog hump the male dog?

Your female is the alpha dog and showing her dominance. It has nothing to do with sex.

Be sure and have your dogs neutered and spayed if the are not already. Be responsible pet owners.

Just as a male dog will do dominate especially fixed females will as you say "Hump" male dogs or other objects to show they are the dominate dog. Especially if all the dogs in the area are fixed. Dogs do not "Hump" to show sexual tendancy's but dominance. Kind of like men discussing women who ever talks the loudest must be dominate. Ok or they fight.

Dogs will hump other dogs and sometimes people as a sign of dominance they want to let the other dog know who's the boss.

A female dog does this to show that she is the dominant or alpha dog of the pack, she may even do this to you if she feels that she is dominant over you. To get her to stop this behaviour tell her No in a firm, loud, but not yelling voice, however you may need to consult a dog training book for more ideas.

Our female does that to our male right after he does it to her. I think of it as ( You did this to me, so now Im doin it to you ) kind of reaction. She probably wants get even. our rabbits do that to each other.
