Joel 2:28 states:
And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.

I am not sure what i selectively read.. that came straight from the bible it goes to suggest that the ability to prophesy will not be relegated to the select few. All shall have the ability.
I agree, to prophesy is to come from God, it mentions everyone shall have the ability to have dreams, visions etc.
All that I have met who openly embrace such abilities do believe it comes from God. It's niave to tar all those claiming to have these abilities as being evil, or from an evil source. That was the whole point.
Is it the ignorance of these Christians who voice their opinions on these matters in a negative way, that they denounce (to call evil or from an evil source) those who openly or otherwise give the glory to God for allowing them these gifts?

I'm an atheist, and I think it's load of nonsense also.
However, the James Randi Educational Foundation is offering a couple of million dollars to any psychic than can prove their ability, so go make yourself rich and prove everyone wrong!
p.s. I wish you would show how the JREF has been "proven" to be a sham. Why? Because they won't let you cheat?

As I 'prophesied', you selectively read. God was prophesying of the last days, here's the rest of the passage:
29 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
32 And everyone who calls
on the name of the LORD will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance,
as the LORD has said,
among the survivors
whom the LORD calls
the psychics of today are little more than petty thieves, thriving on human superstitions and are NOT speaking things that the Lord has revealed. ESP is largely fictitious and preposterous.
But you'll call me ignorant, which is what you do when you can't rebut.

What is ESP? Are you about dreams and visions from the Lord? O have had them, and yes some Christians do not believe that is for today, some of them believe that it only happend back in the bible days. Mainly because some of them ore Jealous. You have to be careful to who you share it will. I tend to keep quite more about my experiences. Yes we are in the last days, and people will be getting more revelations from God.

Prophesy - to speak the words and wisdom of God.
ESP - the ability to read another persons thoughts.
Which is the most important.
Only that which exalts God is of value to a Christian.

Mostly, ESP is equated with sorcery and witchcraft, which are said to be wicked. Thus anyone who has visions or prophetic dreams is denounced as evil.
At the church I go to (I am a teen who is in the broom closet about my spirituality), my preacher actually wrote a book about dreams he had. It gets kinda graphic and gross. Especially the bit about how large dogs tear his baby son apart. But still, not everything is happy and cheerful!

Well, they praise people like Pat Robertson. However that scripture has alread been fullfilled, so any Christian who says they have these powers and uses this verse to prove it is misinformed. Peter said about what he was doing in Acts 2:16 THISis that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.

ESP is a gift, and, if it is used for good and not evil, it is a gift from God. I am Christian(Catholic) and I myself am psychic. I do not know why the Christians you have talked to would denounce it.

If the ESP comes from God,and the person with it says it came from God; as a Christian I have no problem with it,if they can indeed demonstrate they have it at that time.
