Believing without seeing.

Tricky.

Jumping off a building is a good test of faith that you can fly. You will quickly find out that your faith wasn't as strong as you thought.

Perhaps faith is simply believing something without any proof.

I've never been stabbed, but I have faith it would hurt. Can I prove it? Well, you could say others have been stabbed and can testify that is does hurt. However, I'VE never been stabbed - how can I know that if I get stabbed I'll feel pain? I can't - I take that on faith.

I have faith that some kind of God exists. Can I prove it? Well, you could say others have experienced God and can testify God exists and can testify all about the grand plan and argue to the point of killing each other over nebulous, inherently ambiguous holy writings. However, I'VE never experienced God directly - how can I know that God exists? I can't - I have to take it on faith.

It kind of ruins the whole point of God's supposed plan if we are acting on proof rather than faith. I say let religion ask and try to answer the why question. Let science ask and try to answer the how question.

An act of faith is the same as blind faith, believing in something that you can't prove to exist. Ex: As an act of faith you believe in God.

An act of faith is like standing on the edge of a building about to jump because someone promised they'd catch you. you know you could die but u have complete faith that this person will catch you and are prepared to die if you're wrong.

an act of faith is when you act doing something you dont know what the outcome may be:example a paralyzed person that takes botox and can walk puts their foot down trusting but not feeling and walks anyway is tusting God to make sure that its there is an act of faith(trusting God in any given situation)

I think it's the idea that whenever something good happens after someone prays, instead of rightly calling it a coincidence, they say it occurred because of an act of faith - their praying being the act.

... I could be wrong on this, but this is what I think.

This month both my boyfriend (who I live with) and my father (who takes care of my sick mother) lost their jobs.

An act of faith would be me believing that this happened because God wants to usher them into a better future with a better job.

And I do believe this.

An act of faith is believing in something although you do not have physical proof. Because you know that whatever is happening is happening because God wants it to.

An act of faith is when you have nothing that you can physically see to believe....

trusting and believing in something you cannot see, and then acting upon it...

faith is something you believe that you have to physical proof of... and acting on it means that you believe it enough to stand up for it, defend it, and even go out and doing something that you feel you should, not because you have THE PROOF but because you strongly believe it.

Killing in the name of God, of course!

Genesis 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

22:3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his @ss, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

22:10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
