The British. It control Basrah and it is under more control than any other part of Iraq. It trains to a higher standard than any other army. Only the Isrealies come close. The discipline is second to none and the special force are the best. The RAF is small but the Royal Navy is only smaller than the US Navy so would be very effective against the chinese who can barely send there army to tiawan never mind fight on another continent.
k3s793 - Britain has the capability of sending a large force capable of engagements anywhere on earth. Remember we fought 8500miles away on the falklands and we have 2 aircraft carriers with another 2 on the way. We have the second largest force in Iraq doing an excellent job, the largest force in afganistan and are without a doubt capable of anything the USA is capable of, albeit on a slightly smaller scale, but just as effective.

The U.S. without question has the strongest, most capable, and best trained military in the world. China has a huge army, as does North Korea, but neither can stand up to the technological advantage of the U.S. The U.S. Army won't go head to head with an enemy like in World War 2 anymore. We have an army of mobility and steath. In my opinion, anybody we face in a traditional military engagement will go down as fast as the Iraqi Army did. Insurgencies (guerilla wars) are a different matter since you never know who the enemy are or where they are coming from because they look like the rest of the locals.

The United States. The US is the only military in the world that can deploy and supply a large force anywhere on the globe. No other miltiary even comes close. Some others might be great as long as the fight is on their home soil, but just don't have the resources to deploy and support a force in other regions.

You have heard the old joke:
An Arab commander decided to investigate reports that there was a lone Israeli spy who was stalking near their camp. The Arab commander sent 5 of his best soldiers. None came back.
So the commander sent a platoon of soldiers to investigate, none came back.
Finally, he sent 50 soldiers to investigate and bring the rouge Israeli soldier out. After a few hours one tattered Arab soldier crawled out and told the commander: "It’s a trap, it's a trap. There's two of them.”
That is because the Israeli Army is considered the best overall army in the world, especially their intelligence sector, the Massad.

I dig what Mandy said... Israel is surrounded by enemies, their training is live combat... they're blowing something up almost daily... practice practice practice... oh yea and they're still there. I don't understand why people mess with the Israelis, it's suicide.

China has the largest, 2.8 million, but its poorly trained and equipped. Korea also has a very large military, I think around 1 million, but they aren't as well trained as the US.
so i dont really know, the US doesn't have the largest, but its very well trained.

Well, if you factor in the Navy and the Air Force, then the US wins. But in terms of sheer size, then China.
