There are two types of visa - entry visa (the visa that you need to get in order to get into the country). Another visa is (I don't know what it is called), something that you need to stay in the country. The entry visa just let you come into the country. You need like either a student visa, a H1 Visa (work visa), or whatever your case is to stay in the country as a legal immigrant. Those visa normally have a term, such as if you are on a student visa, you have to go to school full time. And if you have a H1 Visa, your work has to sponsor you. Depending on your visa, you might not have the right to work!

A green card is also known as Permanent Resident Card. That means you are not a citizen but you have the legal rights to stay in the country. You have to stay in the country and work and pay taxes. But you cannot vote since you are not a citizen. If you have green card for 5 years, you can become a naturalized citizen by taking a test.

You can obtain a visa by going to the American Embassy in that country and apply for an entry visa. Getting a green card is much harder.

A visa is a temporary non-immigrant document that allows you to be in the country for a specific duration only. A green card is an immigrant document that allows you to live permanently, work and play in America with the option of becoming a citizen after a specified time period.

Visit, www.uscis.gov for ways of getting those immigration documents.

Good luck!
