The way I take "predestination" is like this........

God has given us everything we need to get to the end of our journey here. God is everything we need and we find all that we need in Jesus Christ.

BUT, we still have to stay on the path.
1 John Chap 1. 6,7 reads...
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

toomany take predestination to mean that they can put everything on "auto-pilot", kick back and do what ever they want and act however they want and it really won't matter.

But Paul never presents that in Romans. Instead in Chap 8 he tells he we need to choose between the flesh and the Spirit.

He then goes on later in Chap 8 to reassure us that everything is laid out before us so we can lean on depend on God as we walk this road to heaven.

Keep focusing on Jesus Christ.
You can depend on Him

hope that helps some

Very good, these are verses that cannot be denied. Read them for what they are, they give you an idea of the power of God. They are the verses that put free will into an entirely new perspective. The truth is, no one seeks after God, so the idea that man can subject the Almighty to his wishes, can only be an invention of man. The passages you've identified transform a God who wrings his hands in the hope that we will choose Him, into an all-powerful Lord who rules His universe.

I'd like to commend you, for starters, for reading your bible. It is always good to ask questions as well.

Now No. God does not have an individual plan for each one of us. He has a purpose for all mankind, but that's for another question.

There are a few exceptions to that. As briefly as I can explain it the Book of Revelations Chapter 14 speaks of a small group that will go to heaven to rule with Christ. Those ARE pre-destined for this and are the ones the Apostle Paul spoke of there in those two scriptures in Romans which you cited.

Keep up your studying.

Its easy. You just need to understand that each situation you are confronted with has several possible responses you could chose.

God knows the outcome of every possible choice you could make. All of these possible choices eventually lead to the exact same conclusion, although some of them take a lot longer to get to the conclusion.

This still allows free will but God still knows what is going to happen.

For those of you too lazy to open your Bibles (I KNOW YOU'VE GOT ONE. Even if it's being used as a doorstop.):

Romans 8:28-30
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (One of the greatest lies in scripture.)
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Everyone is predestined by God to be either saved or damned; they can do nothing to affect their final destiny. Pull the "Out of Context" card on me. I dare you.

Romans 9:18
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Apparently, God wants some to go to hell.

So much for free will.
From your own Bible, kids.

God gives us free will.
He ultimatley knows what we are going to do and the choices we are going to make, because he is all knowing, but the choice was made by us.
