In the Talmud, Hillel told a potential convert--who asked him to describe Judaism--"That which is hateful to you, do not do to your colleague. All the rest is commentary."

I don't really know much about Judaism but here are my thoughts in a nut shell.
The most important Jewish celebration, up until the first century, was the time of the Passover. This was the commeration, every year, of the time when they were saved from death, by the blood of the sacrificial innocent Lamb. The last supper then, was eaten standing up. I think it was, unleavened bread, bitter herbs, and, 1 or 2 cups, not sure, of wine, passed around among them.
The point is, they were to be ready to go, at the drop of a hat, so to speak.
By the time of the first century, only a small group of Jewish people, truely celebrated the Passover, and they were looking intently, for the Messiah to come.
This is not to say, that the world didn't celebrate the Passover.
It was the biggest, cash cow, selling bonanza, like Easter is today. In the 1st century, the Jewish people celebrated reclined, or sitting, because they were now in the promised land.
They would still have the bread, bitter herbs, and wine, and, I think, the father would lead the discussion, which were open.
If it had not been for this small group, the true Passover, would have been forgotten. You see, this was the only celebration, that was not "Pagan", meaning, it was from the one and only True God. The blood of the Lamb, pointed them towards the Messiah.
Jesus replaced the sacrificial passover Lamb, the Incarnate.
Seeing Jesus was the Lamb in the Flesh, He inagurated a new celebration of bread and wine, the bread representing the boby of the Lamb, and the wine, the Blood.
So Jesus combined the Jewish Passover celebration, with a new commemoration, for the Christian.

Go to your local public library and ask the staff for books on Judaism. There are many. Ask for some on the basics of Judaism- the ones that answer basic questions.

Here are a few suggestions:

1. The Book of Customs by Scott-Martin Kosofsky
2. A History of God by Karen Armstrong
3. The Jewish Approach to God by Neil Gillman

You may also want to do some online searching through search engines like "Google" or "Ask.com"

While I did give SOME coarse homemade mashes to Sophie (didn't know better then LOL!), I also let her self feed quite a bit from the start. I spaced out new foods every 4 days, so that if she did have a reaction I could easily figure out the culprit. Tomatoes and citrus are not allergenic, but acidic (can be harsh on their tummies). I offered them both before a year, but kept the amount moderate. Egg yolks are not usually allergenic, so I gave those around 7 months and whites at a year. I waited on nuts, honey and strawberries until she was a bit over a year. No problems. :) Cheese and yogurt aren't the same as straight cow's milk, so the 1 yr rule need not apply. The lactose is converted to lactic acid, which is why many people who cannot handle milk can still eat yogurt or cheese. I gave both at 7 months. Sophie enjoyed having chunks of food to stuff in her mouth and play with a bit, getting to know it! LOL I made stews, roasts, chunky vegetable soups, steamed veggies in big pieces for her to hold easily, and gave her fresh fruits like peaches, kiwi and pears. I remember she held a whole apple and went to town on it, then ate pieces of steak at 11 months! It was so cute. Of your food lately, here are my thoughts: Pot roast (slow cooked) with carrots and potatoes: **all of it Chicken Fettucini Alfredo and broccoli: **probably just the chicken and broccoli until 9/10 months since I also waited on wheat until then. Homemade Chicken Tenders (fried and breaded chicken strips), Macaroni & Cheese, Green Beans : **just the green beans, or the chicken without the breading on it Steak, Mushrooms, Corn on the cob and Broccoli: **all of it Smoked Sausage with red and green peppers and egg noodles and feta cheese: **everything but the noodles Grilled Chicken marinated in soy sauce and honey, long grain and wild rice, broccoli: **I have read that honey even cooked isn't okay until a year, so I'd offer the rice and broccoli Edit: WOW northstar are you poorly informed or what??? BLW DOES mean you offer normal foods!! LOL Geez, do some reading.

Judism: A religion based on one G-d. It is nearly 6000 years old.

Many Jewish sects:

ultra Orthodox: the sects of Chasidic Jews, the Modern Orthodox Jews, the Conservative Jews, the Reformed Jews, The Messianic Jews, the Jews for Jesus, the
Reconstructionist Jews, the secular Jews, the interfaith Jews, the 1/2 Jews from interfaith marriages, Hitler who was 1/8 Jewish, etc...

Around 15 million or so Jews worldwide, with around 5.5 million living in Israel. Last I heard was that there are one billion Moslems.

Israel opened its arms to non-Jews within tis borders once the UN sanctioned its existance in the late 1940s. Many Arabs chose to stay, fearing a lot worse conditions under their own kind in Jordan, etc....hundreds of thousands stayed after WW2. Israel is a democracy, a progressive country where love
and education are important. Israel flew in over 10,000 Ethiopian Falashas, Ethiopean black Jews,
during 1980s drought. Jews are compassionate, but have always and forever been under
attack for being smarter and more industrious that others. Its nation is well over 1500 plus years old.

Palestinians favorite best selling book is Mien
Kemp, by Hitler. Textbooks the Palestinian children learn the history of the world from are historically inaccurate.

Bush wants to bomb the
existence out of the Arab nations for oil and also, to further his own far right extremist interpretation of the Gospels:
Christ will rise again from the blood of the who are united again in Israel. That will only happen if Israel is in
a safe state where there is ZERO outside threat to its existence.

The founding fathers WERE NOT CHRISTIANS!!!! They were Diests. At that time, they truly believed that separation of Church and State was vital, and no national religion was to be established. They believed in the laws of nature, not of one particular G-d of their choice. They were geniuses, unlike the mentals in the Whitehouse.

Many Jews were enslaved for 300 years in Egypt. Many emigrated from what is today Istrael to other countries: Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, etc.

Moses led the Jews out of Egypt over 40 years. He nebver made it back to Israel. Jesus was Jewish, 100 p[ercent. Jersuysalem at that time was corrupt, a low point if Jewsish history. The roamns, Pilot in particular, did away with Jesus becuase they feared hius being called King of the Jews. Christ's brand oif Judiaim was extremely pious and righteous, something missing from Jaruslaem at that time.

The old testament tells many stories of the ancient history, but man's lacking sceinetific understanding makes these stories inconsistent with relevance, although many still take the words as the gospel. Sceience has already proven the ten plagues scientifically, rather than the biblical explanation.

Jes have produced some of the world's grteates thinkiers and scientists, musicians and athletes, a supreme court justioce, basvall team owners, and the Son of G-d. .

Well . . .
There was Abraham, Isac, then Jacob. (Father, son and grandson) Abraham promised God he would teach his children about the one true God - God made promises back to Abraham.

Their blood line are the Jews. (they are not a race, they are a people)

The Jews (back then they were the Hebrew) were released from slavery (Exodus) and in the wilderness, God gave the Jews the Law. (the tablets; ie Moses) Everything surrounding the beliefs and Law and customs is Judaism.

There are many divisions among Judaism, like in Christianity.
