my cat is about 6 months old and i just adopted him this saturday. when we first braught him home he was nice and very calm and wanted to be adventurous around the house. (we also have a 100 lb yellow lab in the house, My cat doesn't like him very much ..hehe..i feel bad for my dog.) anyways, sunday he was a little rougher and wanted to bite everyone and scratch them. today i let him explore the basement. he was jumping on things and running from me. i've tried spraying him with water but i have a feeling this behavior is just making my kittens behavior worse. I'm not sure what to do about this, and i really need anwsers on how to take care of this problem!!
please help!

Your kitten has just came home, he's still trying to adjust to this new world he's in. Give him time. He will have ups and he will have downs but he will get used to things. There's so many new smells he's never experienced before. Just let him do this at his own pace and things will be fine. Always show him that you are there for him and love him though so he knows and he'll come around. Good luck and congrats on adopting!!!

Well I certainly won't be spraying the kittie with water! He might be feeling stressed at the new environment and or the dog as well. I would give the little guy time to readjust and hope for the best. Good luck!

New environment
A big dog
A spray bottle
I'm guessing different food

That's one poor little kitty!

Put him in a small, somewhat dark room with his own toys, food, blanket, etc. Go in and visit and pet him, play with him. Eventually let him out into the rest of the house (when he's ready he will tell you). Introduce him to the dog more gradually.

Be patient.

Your cat may take a few weeks to settle in. the dog may be upsetting him also. It take time and patients. make sure the dog is not around for awhile when you interact with the cat slowly bring the dog around. he should calm down.

New enviornment, previous resident (doggy), and that invisible water that keeps attacking him. At six months his testicles are dropping too. What type of environment did he come from (indoor/outdoors)? Can he be let outdoors? If not just contain him to one room and when he starts to behave that way scoop him up and "banish" him for his wild behavior.

spraying the kitten with water will probably make it want to run around more. plus this is a natural thing about kittens. I got a kitten this summer and she was really highper and was really anoying, but now she will lay aroung the house all day long.

If he has a collar or something that might irritate him besides the dog, then maybe that's it, or maybe he's allergic to the type of food you're giving him. I hope that I help and I hope that that's the problem so that you can fix it. Bye!

Check out this website: www.kittencare.com

give him time to explore his new home! You may want to let him into one room, let him explore to his contect for a day or two, then let him into another room.

As he gets comfortable, the squirt bottle will become more effective!

Aww
Poor kitty
It's probably not that he doesnt like your dog.
He's most likely scared, & the lab sounds big.
I'd let him get use to the change, show him that you love him
& hopefully he'll get use to it in a week or so.
