I have seen a lot of anti-mormon literature and websites lately, but none of them are convincing that I shouldn't investigate it more. If you have any comments please respond. I think that anti-anything is no use.

I am of the mind that anyone who would try to make a church look bad, is making that church look better to me. The websites that have anti literature are un-intelligent, and lacking in substance. Thank you everyone for your honesty. I like that all the Mormons I have met have laid it out to me and said, "here you go, find it. ask and pray about it for yourself." No one from the church has tried to force me or seduce me. I am going to investigate it more.

You are exactly right about being anti. The only reason that people are anti is because they are scared that they aren't correct. I commend you that you are investigating with such an open mind, that is excellent. I've certainly heard nothing against us reasonable (as in, not the theory that we have horns for example) that I couldn't come back with a very good response and get the other person thinking more about our church. Being anti just demonstrates insecurity, and I am glad you have an open mind. LDS is a great religion and you will notice such an impact in your life if you investigate and learn as much as you can about it, especially reading the Book of Mormon is great.

The anti-Mormon literature and antagonists on the Internet and elsewhere are usually greatly misinformed or they have an ax to grind against the Church.

Excluding Darth's answer, a good example is seen by a few of the replies here to your question.

I suggest you log on to lds.org and review the official site for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can make up your mind all by yourself. If you want a free Book of Mormon, you can order that on-line at the site.

I wish you well in your investigation of the Church.

You'll find lots of "anti-literature" out there. When I was researching the church, some of my family threw everything they could get their hands on at me. I wanted to be open-minded, so I read it, of course. But it was all a bunch of bull. I had friends... dear friends who were LDS and I ran everything by them. None of it was true. Or they had parts of truth and mized it with lies.

Visit the church's official website if you wish to learn about the LDS Church. You wouldn't ask a Dodge dealer about a Ford would you?

You are absolutely correct to think that anything "anti" is of no use. We don't go around harassing and telling every other religion they are "going to hell" like they do to us.
We do believe in having you find out for yourself, how else will you know other than to ask your Heavenly Father? He won't lie, He won't lead you astray, He can only be 100% correct and true with you, unlike "men"...unfortunately there are many many falsehoods and rumors and misconceptions about the church and what we believe, how we were organized, how the plates were translated...everything.
Let me share with you a quote from President James E Faust of the Presidency of the church:
"There are forces that will save us from the ever-increasing lying, disorder, violence, chaos, destruction, misery, and deceit that are upon the earth. Those saving forces are the everlasting principles, covenants, and ordinances of the eternal gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ."
What a comfort it is to know the gospel is true and that our Heavenly Father has blessings in store for us in the eternities if we will but do what he asks!

I'm not a Mormon so I have no bias in this regard. I'm also opposed to all the anti-Mormon, anti-Muslim, anti-Baha'i, anti-whatever literature that is being produced by small-minded people.

I think there are a lot of good teachings in Mormonism. The Book of Mormon also raises a lot of interesting questions.

I'd suggest that you check Jeff Lindsey's site. It has a lot of information and also numerous refutations of anti-Mormon literature: http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDS_Intro.shtml

=====================================

Note: I'm not surprised that the answers above are in the vain of an attack or quoting irrelevant Biblical verses. WHY have people responded to this question with an anti-Mormon attack?

Mormons do not believe in another Gospel. Gospel means "Good News". They believe in the "good news" of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says no longer something approximately "The Bible". decrease back while the books of the Bible have been being written, there become no such factor as "The Bible". There are mentions of "Holy Scriptures" and "The observe of God", in spite of the shown fact that it quite is quite in basic terms an assumption on the portion of maximum Christians that this refers just to the Bible as we've it on the instant. there is not any reason to have faith that those writers have been referring just to the sixty six books we now call the Holy Bible. there is likewise no archaeological information that proves that Jesus is the Christ. that's what the e book of Mormon is, in particular, yet another testomony of Jesus Christ. there is archaeological information for the e book of Mormon, no longer sufficient to coach it quite is the observe of God, yet sufficient that one won't be able to easily casually toss it away as no longer something.

Beware of the false teachings of this cult.
Counterfeit Christianity is probably the best description I can give for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of real Christianity. Bible terms like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are used by the Cult, but entirely different meanings have been assigned to these terms by the various cult groups.
Like counterfeit money which is sometimes difficult to detect, so it is difficult to detect counterfeit Christianity, since it looks like the real thing. Experts examining counterfeit money often hold it up to a strong light and look for identifying marks. Counterfeit Christianity also has identifying marks which can be seen when held up to an even stronger light, the light of God's word, the bible.
We are at an advantage if we know what to expect from a cult. Cultists are very well trained to appear "Christian", and indeed believe they are the true church, and you need the deliverance! Therfore, be bold and ask the question, "Do you believe the group you represent is the only true church on the face of the earth?"
If they reply that they are, or if they are evasive, making remarks like "Well, every church has a measure of truth but...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist.
Every true Chistian, if asked the same question, regardless of his denomination, would reply that the true church is comprised of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some organization) is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, (John 14:6). No legitimate denomonation would claim that they alone and their members have salvation exclusively, but the cults (the counterfeits) do.

If you are interested in learning about mormonism you can check out a website called bornagainmormon.com. At this website you can watch his live call in show. It's a great place to ask questions about mormonism and get some honest answers.

The host of the show is Shawn McCraney. He was a high priest in the mormon church for many years. He eventually left mormonism after finding Christ. This is not an anti-mormon show. The purpose of this show is to show the differences between mormonism and Christianity.

He also has a book called
Born Again Mormon - moving toward christian authenticity

Good luck studying. I like W. Cleon Skousen's "Treasures from the Book of Mormon" commentaries myself, because it goes verse by verse through the entire Book of Mormon, and his "Thousand Year" commentaries on the Bible are also very illuminating. I see you have already had some good references to websites like www.lds.org - have fun reading.

Galatians 1:6-9:

6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Maybe you don't get any Mormon commercials on TV where you live. They call it "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" on my TV.
