I agree with others regarding the use of topical lice insecticides but you might be interested to know that applying a thick coat of ordinary conditioner "stuns" the lice for about 20 minutes and then you can comb them out. This method can be used in between applications of the lice shampoo (most people recommend 2 treatments 7 days apart) but you will need to use a special fine toothed comb.
Below is a link to an information sheet a Parasitologist professor of mine has written...it should give you some strategies to sort the problem out. Good luck!

There are shampoos at the drug store that will kill head lice. Just ask the pharmacist. Don't be embarassed, head lice are a lot more common than you think.
After you shampoo her hair, comb thru it to get out all the nits --these are lice eggs ( they look like dandruff but stick to the hair) Some schools will not allow a child back if there are nits.
Also, wash her clothes and anything which touches her head ( hair ribbons, barrettes, brush and comb, etc) in water as hot as you can. Wash her sheets and blankets too. Anything you cannot wash, put it in a plastic bag and tie it shut --leave it there for at least a week
Tell your daughter not to share hats with anyone, or combs, etc.

No, probably not.
You need to understand that when lice first appeared a loong time ago, they had trouble adapting to certain conditions and a strong chemical could have easily killed them. Now, as with literally every annoying pest, they have evolved and are now a lot more durable. They will probably resist any factory made chemicals.
I reccomend olive oil. Why? No matter how well lice adapts to certain chemicals, lice needs to breath. Why is this important? Well a large amount of thick and heavy olive oil will smother the lice. It will also put a layer of thick oil on the eggs, so they can't hatch.
So you need thick olive oil, a lice comb (the kind that brushes out lice eggs and lice adults), and alot of hot, boiling water, plus 3 months.
Dip your hair in the olive oil, EVERYWHERE! Then, while the oil is in your hair, use the lice comb to brush out any lice you can.
Keep the oil in your hair for several hours, with a shower bagg cap thing on. Do this EVERY DAY! every 3 days!
Now take all your blankts, your pillow cases, every thing your head has been near, and wash it in sweltering hot, boiling water. Once they are clean and dry (use super hot dryer), put all the stuff into big plastic bags and close them up. Keep them there for 3 months to kill off any more lice and eggs.
Even if you don't think you have any more lice on your head, keep putting olive oil on, for about 2 months, trust me.

I found that using baby oil and rubbing it really good into the scalp and leaving on for about 5 minutes, then us a comb to comb them out, you will have to shampoo several time before the baby oil comes completely out.
I found it works a lot better than the Lice shampoo, also less expensive.
Good Luck.

Whatever you do dont use that store bought Rid it doesn't work any more because lice have gotten immune to it. You can either use mayonnaise, put it liberally on her hair and leave in for an hour and shampoo it out with Dawn dish liquid then shampoo with regular shampoo and put alot of conditioner on it and use a lice comb on it. Or you can use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar mixed with mineral oil then shampoo with Dawn and use the hair conditioner the same as with the mayo. Also get a new brush after you treat her hair. Put all of her stuffed animals in a trash bag for 2 weeks. Wash everything, sheets, bedspread, clothes and spray with lice killer. I have been dealing with this same thing with my grand daughters. Good luck to you!!!!

Call your doctor's office. They should be able to write a prescription by just looking at the note at their front desk. They will prescribe a permethrin based shampoo/cream. Use once to kill them and again in a week or so to make sure all the eggs are killed.
Wash everything that she touches (towels, etc.) and keep close watch on siblings.

because of the fact it turns into a virus! another baby they arrive in touch with gets it. Yeah that could be a soreness and no person needs to handle it. babies can not visit college with head lice. you will possibly desire to do away with them.

treat her with the head lice treatment now. if there's anyone in the house who may have them, treat them too just to be safe. wash everything you can in hot water, or run them through the hot dryer (i.e. pillows, blankets, stuffed animals). you can also put these same things in big trash bags and seal them shut for 2 wks to make sure the lice die, but i would suggest the dryer if possible.
just make sure you treat her again in a 5-7 days to kill any eggs that hatched. if you don't she could very likely get them again.

There are some over the counter lice shampoos you can wash her hair with. Also, you will need to wash all her bed linens in hot soapy water. I also recommend spraying the house with lysol.

Use shampoo, submerge the hair in water for about 10 minutes. Lack of oxygen should kill off the lice, or make it leave, and take a bath. And use insect repellent(j/k)
