Most translations (King James, New International) translate John 1:1 to say, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It doesn't say in the begining the word was. Also, the beginning is refering to the begining of the world. This is taking from Genisis 1:1 which says, "In the begining God created the heavens and the earth." This was obviously not talking about the begining of God, but the begining of the world. John 1:1 is refering back to Genisis, therefore John 1:1 should be understood as saying "In the begining, (the begining being the begining of the world) was the Word." John 1:1 is also affirming that Jesus Christ is God. (Jesus Christ being the "Word" spoken of.) Hope this was helpful.

It is hard for me to believe that someone questions the " WORD ", however I reckon that all things are possible.
As for your question, Man has a definitive beginning in accordance to the word in the book of Genisis. However, God was there in the beginning before man was. How are we that are finite to understand HIM who is INFINITE.? He is ominipresente, ominiecient, and omnipotent. We have a beginning and HE has none. He was before all things were. Genisis 1 vs 1 says " In the beginning HE created the heavens and the earth ". John 1 vs 1 says " In the beginning the word was, and the word was with God and the word was GOD.
There is nothing wrong with your question, however you just need to seek other scriptures to follow through and discover more information to get your answers and become more knowledgable so that asking questions will soon become a thing of the past and accept HIS word as fact without hesitation. Question what others may say about God and read HIS word so that You will become so good at learning what HE tells us that you will astound others with what you know.
Thanks for the great question. !

John is writing about the beginning of the world, not the beginning of God.

In the passage John is referring to God speaking to Jesus (the Word). The beginning is the beginning of the world.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God...."

The account in Genesis says that God spoke everything into existence, thus "The Word" was what gave life to everything. All God had to do was say it and it came into being.

Only God has the power to do something like that so....
"the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It's not a power God has...God is the Word. He alone is the power that gives life to everything.

Jesus is the Word
Jesus is God

hope that helps some

It would be pointless to try and find out where God came from, but it is written that in the beginning the word was? the reason why this is so is because the bible explains that with a word God created the earth. He said there would be light, light there was. When he said there would be sky, sky there was. When he said there would be man, man there was. Therefore, with the word the world was created and nothing has been made without the word of God. John1:1 MEANS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. sINCE THE WORLD WAS CREATED.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The "Word" here is Jesus Christ. not the God Almighty.

It is strange that people are still enjoying the misunderstanding derived from this. We know that a beginning is a finite moment in eternity and that there are an infinitesimal amount of beginnings and endings eternally stretched across each other so to have within a beginning and an ending another infinitesimal amount of other beginnings and endings. Knowing that, what do you think the book meant?

I think it means at the beginning of creation, because creation had a beginning. The Word is the message to the people that became flesh in Jesus Christ. So it basically says that at the beginning of creation this word was already there, with God, before it came to Earth as his son. But God was supposed to be floating around for eternity before that. That's what it means within itself, but really it makes no sense and has no logic at all. But that's religion for you!
