Take a tiny pinch and put it on the end of your tongue, if it sort of fizzes and bubbles it's still good...

Every can or box is dated. If it is past the exipiration date you shouldn't use it because baking powder is used in baking to help things fluffy. Whatever you are making will stay flat, heavy, and hard.

If it's clumpy or solid, it most likely is old and unusable.
If it's past it's expiration date (on the bottom of the box), but isn't clumpy or solid, definitely DON'T use it for baking or human consumption, but you can use it as an air deodorant or shoe cleaner (or anything not having to do with food or medicinal use) still.

1 tsp. baking powder to 1/2 cup of hot water. If it bubbles, it is still good.

I think you can add a small amount of water to a small amount of baking powder and if it bubbles, it's still good.

if there is no stamp on the box, and you want to know if it's still good, you should put a little vinegar, if it froths/ bubbles up, it is still fresh. Other than that, throw it away.
Reason:
It bubbles up CO2.
If it doesnt, it's out of date/ gone bad

Smell it. Hey, that's what they say about everything else! There should be a date somewhere on the box. Go by that.
