Nothing, my dog used to eat my cats food when he finished his and wanted more! To a dog, food is food!

it is absolutly NOT safe for a dog to eat cat food. If maybe once a month, he steals the cats food, that is not great, but ok. But cat food messes up their livers and does all kind of damage.
Cats are by nature more finiky that dogs, so their food usually smells and tastes better. A healthy dog will eat anything and beg for more, a cat will go days with out food if they don't like it. They like cat food because it tastes great!
If it is a boarding kennel that bords cats too and he is just stealing food, the kennel needs to houst the dogs and cats separately, though them actually feeding him cat food is unlikely, that might be the case too. Either way, cat food is not alright for dogs to eat, ask any vet, trainer, breeder, responsible dog owner.

A kennel in your home? Feed the cats up high like on a counter where the dog can't get it. Cat food is not good for dogs...dogs need different nutrition than that supplied in cat food.
If it's a boarding kennel find a new one immediately since they should know better.

Are you talking about a boarding kennel? If so, and they really are feeding the dogs cat food, you should really look for another kennel. Cat food is much too high in proteins and fats for dogs.

Well if your putting him in a kennel thats connected to a vet office they should be smart enough NOT to feed them cat, even though its safe for dogs to eat cat food (mine does all the time), but OMG he's at a kennel with trained people!!! You should check with whoever taked care of your pet and ask them not to feed him cat food all the time. Vet/Kennels normally have one kind of food they feed to all cats or all dogs (unless the're owner asks otherwise, or the animal has a specific health conditiong that causes them to have to have some other formula)

It's a dog being a dog. Think about it this way...If you ate the same kibble day in and day out, wouldnt you jump at the opportunity for some tasty cat food?

my 2 dogs love cat food, they like the seafood and chicken, I mix it in with their food.
