We did our daughter's room in a light blue color, and her bed spread is light blue with purple blue and brown. Her furniture is a deep brown. The room feels 10 degrees cooler in the summer. It must be a psychological thing. Our bedroom is a medium tan/beige color, and our furniture is cherry, very classic looking. And our bedspread is a sage green color. As for doing music notes... It would work great with an off white, beige color... something to give the appearance of old sheet music. But also whatever color you go with has to go with your carpet... Hmmmmmmmm

I have noticed brown colors are in. If the room is small and are worried about making it look smaller stay away from dark colors. Paint your ceiling white. I would use a darker brown with white writing for the quotes.

I suggest you buy a book on paint and color schemes to give you ideas and help you choose. I wouldn't trust any answers here, because, after all, you have to live with the decision.

i think a light brown color would be nice and soft but not too dark to where your room would feel claustrophobic.....then paint the words in a dark brown

If I was you I would look to see if they have it in a wall paper that would fit the whole wall, I have seen this done on tv before and you just have to put the past on the wall and then stick up the wall paper. That may be easier
