Well, there are two possibilities. Either the neck snaps and the person dies immediately (presumably), the head hanging limply from the neck; or the neck doesn't break and the person slowly strangles to death while jerking wildly and clawing at the rope. In this case, the tongue would probably stick out and an expression of horror would remain on the person's face after death. The neck, in either case, would be significantly red, purple and bruised.
It is a cruel and unusual form of punishment that ought to be made illegal everywhere. I was surprised to learn that Saddam Hussein would be hanged, because I would have assumed that some more humane method would have been chosen. Luckily, his neck snapped so he presumably died quickly. I know that he was a tyrant, but everyone deserves to be treated humanely.

okay remember my friend there are two different ways to hang someone. firstly there is old school with the horse and then you give it a swat..basically you suffocate to death from lack of air. Considered very cruel and inhmane. Now as you didnt see in the saddam video he had a rope around his legs. and the noose knot is to the side of his neck. usually there is about 150 lbs worth of sandbags on the end of that rope around his legs. when the trap door opens below his feet his neck is snapped hard and his neck is broken fast to the side and twists ensuring a clean break and instant death. . His tongue will engorge out and and his eye will pop out like ripe onions from there sockets. but he is killed quicker than lethal injection. the last thing to happen usually uncontrolled pissing and shitting as he hangs. grafic enough for ya bro.

If the rope is long enough and the leaped is long enough your neck will snap if not you will hang there until you run out of air - usually people will start pulling on the rope at this time - their face will turn blue and their feet will start dancing!@~

Hanging cause loss of blood circulation to the brain so you die. Your neck hardly ever snaps from being hanged.
If you every wana try these kinda stuff, make sure you write a last will.
