Like if you are just hanging out, and there's wine, or mixed drinks etc... why would it be wierd for someone to take a shot (not one after the other, just one, with every drink everyone else has)

My guess would be that you can "talk" while sipping your drink, whereas shots are generally put away in one gulp. I don't see anything wrong with it if you're sipping your shot.

I think it's because "having a drink" is viewed as a social activity. So you drink while you talk and laugh. A drink is something you sip and enjoy. You can have a few drinks and spread them out over an evening, and always kind of have a drink in your hand like everyone else. Also, you can have a couple of drinks and be a little giddy maybe but not drunk per se.
Shots are viewed more as for partying and to get drunk quick.
I also think that some may view it as kind of a class thing. Lower class people might be thought of those who "do shooters" and "get hammered". Upper class people enjoy "cocktails".
So I guess it kind of depends what kind of party you're at!

If you want to take a shot and your the only one. You can request it put in a snifter glass, or rocks glass then just drink it really fast, so you don't look like a total alcoholic with the shot glass. Also order doubles you get more bang for the buck.

I dont think it is inappropriate. Try putting your shot on ice and sipping it. I think the whole point, as someone mentioned above, is the conversation associated with the drinks.

Do you recommend take, reason you spelled toke? If toke replaced into the ultimate be conscious, then you definately does not want the espresso or wine. in case you meant take, then i does not do the espresso, till it replaced into decaf. Why you could drink decaf is previous me. extra human beings drink espresso to maintain them up. no want for decaf then. i could drink the wine, it will relax you and you will have the potential to sleep extra helpful, till your a kind of those that recover from inspired and wild, then that is going to shop you up all night. i could forgo the: Toke, Wine & espresso (popular or decaf) and only attempt counting sheep.in case you drink espresso for the time of the night while your place, it is the topic. not extra espresso after 4pm and you will have the potential to sleep at night. I didnt know it was socially inappropriate not to! Taking shots is fun! Wine is for the goody goodies who cant handle shots!
