Its a bacteria that everyone has in their intestine, which along with many other types of bacteria, helps in the break down and digestion of food. It causes problems however when it gets in the wrong place (eg wounds, circulating blood) or when very virulant strains become too plentiful in the digestive tract, the latter causing food poisoning.

From what you've said it sounds like you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). E coli is a bacteria that is commonly found in fecal matter/stool & can sometimes cause urinary tract infections. Wiping yourself after urination from front to back or toward your anus & washing your hands often can prevent you getting another urinary tract infection. UTIs don't generally pass from person to person during intercourse, but if he is having symptoms like burning on urination or difficulty getting urine to pass then he should go to the doctor.

Its a virus cause from chicken or turkey, like not properly washing your hands after handling them when getting them ready to cook. Also iguanas carry the virus. This virus can cause vomiting, stomach cramps, fever and diarrhea. Hope this helps.
