What exactly is the big bang theory, or the theory on evolution. I believe in God but i have never actually had the others explained. If you understand or believe in any of this. help. please. thank you.

IT's pretty complicated to answer in a forum like this. Let me find a link that explains it easily.

http://www.esa.int/esaKIDSen/SEMSZ5WJD1E_OurUniverse_0.html Explains the big bang in about one minute

Evolution: http://members.aol.com/darrwin/believe.htm Takes about 4 minutes to read.

Hope that helps

The Big Bang Theory, in a nut shell, says that all the universe started with an explosion, and explains why the galaxies in the universe are moving apart from each other.

The Theory of Evolution Theory, in a similar nutshell, says that as species reproduce they change slightly, due to small mutations and natural selection.

Both theories are subject to change, as science discovers more about the Universe and the biology and fossil records of the Earth.

Obviously your best bet is going to be to take a physical science and a biology class.

But I believe in God too, and I believe He uses laws of nature as His tools so I'll give you a quick few sentence explanation okay?

1) Big bang- the idea that all matter in our known universe was once all together in an extremely dense ball which at one point "exploded" into many pieces and gave us all of our planets and stars as we know them - it's mostly based on the finding that everything in the universe has a pattern of expanding from one central point and it makes sense according to inertia.

2) Evolution - It's a little easier to understand when you call it natural selection....the strongest, fastest, most able to live in an environment are less likely to be killed (from predators etc) and more likely to procreate. Eventually these features that helped them to survive in the most place become more and more dominant amongst a species and thus over a long, long time as environments change so do species.

(an important side note - the theory of evolution does not claim humans came from monkey - it claims that humans and monkeys came from some common ancestor that wasn't necessarily more like one or the other).

Very simplified, but I hope that helps.

I'd suggesting reading up on these things in wikipedia. One thing about evolution - it is not "just" a theory. Evolution is both a fact (we know that it really happened/happens) and a theory (we are still learning a great deal about HOW it happens).

Understanding and realizing that the big bang and evolution are based on valid science does NOT mean that you must abandon your belief in god... but it might help :)

You'd do better off going online and researching yourself. Hit wikipedia and such and have fun researching. Summary version:

The Big Bang (which is still argued even among scientists) is a scientific theory that says that a bunch of gas and atomic structures came together and the universe was created from the "stuff" of this explosion.

Evolution is a scientific theory that discusses that everything evolves (i.e. changes) as time progresses (according to the life span of the object in question... such as bacteria, viruses, animals, humans etc.) to survive in the conditions presented to the species in any given era.

At one point in history something caused an explosion in the universe which started what we now see as planets, stars, etc. It was the beginning of all that we now see. It assumes the pre-existence of elements (gasses) needed to provide the fuel for the explosion but doesn't explain where they came from or if somehow they are eternal. From the time of the bang things just happened as a matter of chance.

You could look for a book by Isaac Asimov called "Beginnings: The Story of Origins - of Mankind, Life, the Earth, the Universe."

It was published in 1987 so you may need to search awhile but it's worth it. Asimov was a helluva writer who could make some of the most difficult concepts accessible to the average person. And best of all, his writing doesn't sound like a textbook!

Good luck.

A concept developed by Stephen Hawkins

God might of used the Big Bang to start His Creation.

The Big Bang Theory.....

Many scientists believe that millions of years ago all the material in the entire.....well......everywhere.........the earth......the galaxy.......the universe..universes beyond ours......Everything everywhere was compressed in a single small unit about the size of the head of a pin. There was an large explosion and all that we know and all that we can't even see or fathom that is out there came into existance......

And they put down us Christians for having faith......*scratching head*

Don't read creationist websites regarding evolution. You're unlikely to find a grain of truth there. If you want to know about science, stick to scientific sources.

Good luck.
