Mac help needed?

trying to download a programme off the net and instal it on my mack, but its asking me for a password. Is this a pre set password or is it something the person i bought the mac from put in? and if so is there a way round it ?

It should be the same password you use to login to it, if that's what you do when you start it up. If you don't and you've bought it from someone else then it might be their password in that case. When you've got it go to System Preferences- Accounts and change it so you don't have to do it again.
