I've judged these things before- and from my experience- choose something that's very popular on the radio right now. If in your area you're listening to Beyonce, choose that, if it's some one else that is up beat- choose that. You want the kids to know it well, and you want them to clap with you. Them being excited and clapping while you sing will make your voice much stronger. Don't choose a broadway piece unless you go to a very strange school where non-music kids listen to broadway- and don't choose something that you personally think is a good, but underrated song- I see kids try this a lot- with great intentions, but they normally loose because the students are board while listening to them and it makes their song much harder. Good luck

Look at some ABBA stuff. Its classic and it will get everyone moving. I personally would chose Dancing Queen or Money Money Money or Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie. They have done lots of great dance anthems in their time and I think everyone would enjoy it. Or What about Cyndi Lauper with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. That's a fun song to do. Or IF you feel a little more brave why not try some soul stuff by Aretha Franklin shes fantastic and it means you can improvise and make it your own. Just make sure you choose something you know and enjoy otherwise you'll begin to hate that song more than you do. Hope you do really well. The very best of luck!!!!!

depending on what kind of singing voice you have, you can sing something with a lot of soul like "Fallin" or "Karma" by alicia keys, those are good songs. Or, you can sing a good song from a musical. Rent has a lot of good songs in it. Just try to choose a song that is known by a lot of people, but that you can do well. People will enjoy it way more.

I'm sorry I can't be of much help, but I just felt like sharing a memory here...anyways, when I was in 1st grade, I decided to sing the song "Under the Sea" from the movie "The Little Mermaid". Ha. xD Everybody thought it was so cute, but I was humiliated.

Ahem, sorry. Just felt like sharing. Hehe.

Songs from very popular musicals are often best. Sound of Music has some great ones. Mary Poppins, Annie, South Pacific, or animated musicals are fine too.

Personally, I love the song "My Favorite Things" (from the musical "The Sound of Music"). It's classic, yet still has a very sweet melody.

The song "Summertime". Many people have recorded it and one of my favorite singers is Anita Baker. She is a great jazz/blues singer. If you get a chance to hear her voice plz do....I'm sure you have a great voice too! Best of luck in your participation in the talent show....would you do me a favor and write to me after and tell me how it went...I'd love to hear all about it....Happy New Year...
