if their alert, talk about anything. tell them how much u love them.talk about things they like. focus ur attention on them. maybe grand children. pick any subject, u know they like, and let them do most of the talking. just be ur self an let ur love show. sometimes u dont have to say much of anything. just knowing ur there shows u care an the dying loved one knows that. and u will know if and when to consider hospic. im sorry to hear about ur loved one. ill be praying for them an your family. god bless you an yours.

First you could discuss it with your loved ones physician. Hospice is usually for someone that has six months or less left to live. Hospice must also be called in and ordered by a physician..........individuals can't call them in. If the physician feels there is the need, you can set up a family conference with your physician with your loved one present so that it is a mutal decision between the patient, family, & physician.
