I think its silly to even discus such a thing. Everyone has different circumstances and to think people have married and had successful relationships starting off with nothing. As long as you are not lazy and are willing to work and you can make a living.
No one should judge you on what money you have!

It would be great if by 28yrs old a man had a couple thousand dollars saved up, either for a rainy day, a downpayment on a home, the beginning of a good start to a ROTH IRA. It's hard to encompass the world outside of the USA because the cost of living and value of things is often so different. My first husband and I bought our first home at 26 and 24yrs old in the mid 80's. Nowadays, that might be hard to do because everything is so expensive. Just save what you can and don't touch it. One day when you look at it you might be pleasantly surprised.

It depends on the type of degree you have if any; if you are working minimum wage, entry level business, or professional; If your company has a 401k plan and it you contribute; and the cost of your living expenses related to your salary. It is impossible to estimate from no more info than is available. The best way to save is have a specific amount of each paycheck automatically diverted to a savings account without access via an atm card. That way, the only way you can access it is by actually going to the bank during regular business hours and transfering funds. The more difficult it is to access, the less apt you are to spend it.

Ha Ha, at 12.00 dollars. Seriously you shouldnt have much of anything. You should still be finishing off your student loans. If you do have money saved, then it should be enough to take a vacation. You should live it up until you are 30 years old and then you can go ahead and start your savings account. good luck.

At least a few months worth of salary/income. That shows the guy is responsible enough to have enough $ to cover his bills for a few months if something happened to his job. Financial stability is a very attractive quality. You dont have to be rich, but financially stable is very desirable.

The is no absolute rule on this subject, but it is suggested that a person have three months worth of income in your savings account. For most of us that sort of savings would take some time. But is is definatly a good rule of thumb

With today's economy, a 28 year old isn't likely to have a savings.
There was once a general rule of thumb for poverty level income. In order to stay above poverty level, you need to make your age in anual income.
So, if you're 18, you'd be earning $18,000.00 a year. (gross)
At age 28, you should be bringing in 28,000.00 a year. (Gross)
Today, that puts you at poverty level.
