how old do u have to be to volunteer for big brothers big sisters?

im 16 and would like to volunteer for community service for school, i went to their website but it doesnt say how old u have to be

just to let u know im probably gonna stick with this for as long as i can which is gonna be a lot longer than just a year

and not all 16 year olds r the same. some r more responsible than others and im one of those

I currently mentor a child through Big Brothers Big Sisters. In my community, the minimum age for the long-term matching/mentoring standard program is 18. They might have different age requirements in different areas, so check with your local chapter.

When I went through the orientation a while ago, they did mention their school-based program where you spend some time with a child at school or after school. You might want to check into that program also.

If you are interested in mentoring in general, you might want to consider some of the other mentor programs that may be available within your community. Check with your local volunteer center to find a library program or other mentor program:

I also work with a library tutoring project through my volunteer center. Some of my fellow volunteers mentor specific children at these projects on a regular basis.

I don't know the age requirement but there is a commitment requirement. They want someone for at least a year. So if you don't wanna stick around that long (which is understandable for a 16-year old) you should volunteer for something else.

i imagine you may want to be over 18 to be a volunteer because "littles" might want to be as a lot as 17 years of age. Race isn't an challenge so long because the little does not have a topic with it, if the little prefers a particular race its as a lot as her or him.
