Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event.

Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Weight that is lost quickly comes back quickly, but what is worse, it comes back with a vengeance -- you end up weighing more than you did before you started. So then you go on another diet and lose the weight, and bingo -- the minute you stop dieting, the weight comes back, and more so. Dieting alone just doesn't work, and losing weight quickly means that you're losing muscle mass, which slows down your metabolism (why you then regain the weight and more so.) Do this yo-yo dieting long enough, and you end up needing gall bladder surgery and then probably bariatric surgery (stomach stapling or lap-band surgery) because you can't keep your weight down naturally.

The best way to lose weight is slowly, with a lot of exercise -- LOTS -- and healthy eating. Cut out the sweets, cut back on the fats, eat lots of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, only lean protein. Plan to lose 1-2 lbs a week. And plan on maintaining a strong exercise routine (4-6 times a week) and watching what you eat for the rest of your life -- not dieting, just making healthy choices. Good luck. You didn't gain that weight in 4 weeks and you're not going to lose it in 4 weeks.

it is not healthy to lose that much weight in that time period. there's a 2 lbs a week max to maintain health. you don't wanna starve yourself either b/c that will just turn you metabolism down and you need that to eat away the fat. try just cutting a few calories here or there. for every 500 calories your body doesn't burn off that a pound of fat that your body stores. try keeping a food journal and then after reveiwing it go through and look at the things you normally eat and change them a bit. try less fattening milk or cheeses. try changing the types of carbs you eat, such as your pastas or cereals. change them with whole grains. skimp on the ground beef and go for turkey. also you have to get out there and get moving. i hate to exercise so sometimes when no one is home i dance around like an idot to funcky music, getting your heart pumping is what really melts the weight off. and one last quick trick, if there is a social reason for wanting to lose soooo much weight that fast ie; party, wedding, reuion etc. then try a body wrap treatment at a salon. the detoxing is said to sometimes make you look up to 10 lbs thinner. just keep motivated and stay positive and it'll all work out. good luck!!!

i know what you're going through, when i graduated high school i was 110lbs now 5 years later i gained a good 30 lbs. what you need to realize is that at 5'6" you are not severely overweight. 40lbs is an unrealistic goal not to mention how sickly you would look. talk to your doctor find out what your target weight should be and set a goal to work toward it. cut all or most of the sugar from your diet and begin an exercise regiment and the pounds will melt off.

Aside from giving birth there isn't a healthy way to lose 40 lbs in 4 weeks. If you want to lose weight and keep it off cut calories and work out more.

Losing 1-2 pounds a week is healthy and reduces the risk of gaining it back.

40 lbs in 4 weeks, eh? I'm afraid that's not going to happen. All those diet plans in magazines and whatnot aren't going to work, trust me. And you can't lost it all that fast. Be patient, it may take longer. First, make an appointment with your doctor. Ask about health plans and what is safe for you to do, how to curve your appetite safely, etc. After, exercise, exercise, exercise. And eat plenty of fruits and veggies, but make sure to have a balanced diet of grains and etc. as well. Watch out for trans fats [found in cookies, ice cream, CHIPS, all the good stuff] because they are so hard to work off. Also, work out with a friend- much more fun!

This is all the advice I can give you really- good luck! (=

I weight 160 @ 5'7'' and I'm not over weight. I just got back from a check up & I'm the perfect picture of health. I do have bigger bones & a lot of muscle though...still 110 seems really, small for someone 5'6'' honey. Are you sure that's what you want to do?

Anyway you need to ask yourself why are you eating so much? Are you filling a void in your life? Usually when people start over eating it is because of an emotional attachment that they are trying to fill with food. My family has a history of overeating to try to make themselves feel better. So because I don't want to be over weight like most of my family every time I start to fill like I want to eat something (when I should be full) I exercise instead. Works great for me.

If you want to drop a lot of weight fast I recommend the Atkins diet, people tell me it works wonders but it's also unhealthy for you so don't do it for too long.

Take Care I hope this helps!!

I have been working really hard to get a lean body. I go to the gym every day, watch what I eat, but still could not get the body I wanted. That was until I found this body cleansing stuff. I was able to get the great body I wanted in 9 days. I did a 9 day cleanse and lost 15 pounds and 17 inches, 3 inches from my waist! I had been working so hard for over a year to get this, and this program gave me what I wanted in 9 days. I found out that many body builders use this to get ready for competitions because the protein in the shakes builds muscle and the cleanse helps to get rid of the toxins stored in the fat cells. When the toxins are removed, the fat cells shrink and you definitely can tell in the way your clothes fit! I recommend this product for anyone wanting to get a better looking body quickly. I found out about it at this toll free number 1-877-587-4647. It is expensive but it works! You can get cleansing info at this website http://GetAnewBod.com

40#'s in 4 weeks is unhealthy and most likely impossible. You may be able to shed around 20. Just add lots of H2O to your diet, eat small balanced meals and eat brown rice for your carb. You should be eating 6 meals a day, not 3. And never eat after 7.
Good luck....and if you are 5'6" you should weigh 130 for your ideal weight.

40 lbs in 4 weeks is unrealistic and unhealthy. Go for 1 lb a week. You know how to do it, sensible eating and regular exercise, you just need to stick with it and be committed.
