I wish there was a shelter here I could take it to but there is not. She has puss coming out of her private area and is all inflamed. I have Penicillin G procaine and the labeling says 1 ml per 100lbs so I am trying to give her 20 mll. A 1/4 of a cc. I have a full vial and planed to giver her 3 shots over a 4 day period. Help me if you can. She looks real bad. Should I maybe just put her out of her misery?

Ok I'll put her out if the antibiotics won't help. I was hoping I could help her. Thank you for your help.

Is there any chance the penacillin will work at all or what about keflex pills? Somebody just offered some.

Give the correct dosage based on weight and the right type of penicillin. Mix the suspension first. Insert 1 cc of air if you have a multi dose bottle. Draw up the correct number of cc's and slowly expel any air in the syringe. With the bevel facing upward, give the injection intramuscularly only. The landmark is on the rear side of the leg in the muscle lateral of the anus. Insert the needle straight in and pull the plunger back to be sure you didn't hit a vein. Slowly insert the medication and withdraw the needle. Please see a vet for oral medication instead.

DO NOT DO IT. Some Penn injectable that you can get CANNOT BE USED IN CATS!!!!!!!!!! Do not give the cat anything!!!! Go to the vet!!!!!!!!

Yeah, there is no "cat penicillin". Sorry. Maybe take the cat to a shelter so it can get treatment....before you kill it. How much are you trying to give??? Penicillin goes IN THE MUSCLE!!! If it will not "go in" you are doing something wrong!!!

Besides, many cat viruses are NOT sensitive to Penn. Really. And one injection will not do it anyway. Why not just take it to a shelter.

That is NOT the kind of thing that Penicillin is going to fix. She probably has a uterus full of pus and will die a horrid death if not spayed. Antibiotics will not fix that. Either put the cat to sleep, or take it someplace. That is a minimum of IV antibiotic treatment, but even that will probably NOT help. Putting the cat to sleep is the best thing if you can not get it treatment.

Sorry. I work at a cat shelter and we see this a lot. I wish there was something that could be done that would cost you a fortune!!!

Where did you get it? I hope not from a livestock store...I see that a lot. You can't just pick up antibiotics and give them to any ill animal. Besides, some are oral and some are injectable. Please, make a vet appointment if you haven't already.

EDIT: I agree with "torbaynewfs"...a single dose wouldn't help anyhow and she really needs to see a vet. Could you take her to an emergency vet and explain...make payments or turn her over? It's a tough situation (so sorry), but she can't be left like that, nor have improper treatment.

Slide the needle under skin do not get it in the muscle between the shoulders is the best place and it it also less likely the cat will be able to bite you or scratch you that way
