Ok firstly I know I should not have been speeding and I deserve everything that is going to be trown at me but I need some advise to ensure that I get off as light as I can.

This is the situation:

I have 6 points that are current on my licence now and I was pulled over on a motorway by a unmarked police car. He said I was doing 115mph.

I intend to plead guilty (As i did it) I have a letter from work and some exeptional hardship examples to cover but is there anything else I could say or do to aid my case??

Hope you can help me. Thanks. Hammy.

hiya, sorry i dont have advice for your court case, but please can i just say, please dont speed, you are lucky if you only get points or a fine. i am saying this because last year my boyfriends brother thought he was a bit clever and thought it didnt matter if he went that bit faster then he crashed straight into a wall, he was on life support for 6 months and now can barely talk is parylsed all down his right hand side, is deaf in one ear and needs glasses, he is 26 and his life is ruined for ever.
please any body that reds this think about what that couple of miles an hour faster your going it really isnt worth it, i am 22 and if it wasnt for seeing his brother clinging onto life when he was more or less dead i probably wouldnt have bothered this much but i have just passed my test and i am so careful, i want to stay being me.
i hope it all goes well for you and thank god you got caught out that way and not the other.
take care
love
nat

25mph over the speed limit is a ban (recommended) 30mph is normally an uncontested ban. I was pulled last year -with a clean licence and was fortunatly put forward for a "speed therapy" scheme for first time offenders that was running at the time and was able to avoid court. You could ask to be considered, but expect the whole book in your chops if you re-offend in the next 12-24 months.

You can expect a ban for 3months to a year depending on the positive information you - your legal council can supply to the court. I would suggest as you have submitted a plea already that you do EVERYTHING you can betrween now and court date for the court to see you in a positive light. Book yourself onto an Advanced Driving Course (Institute of Advanced Drivers) and do it. You will need the experience as it is likely you will get an extended driving test when your (likely)ban is over.

YES YES YES get legal representation, preferably from a Respected Legal Council

Usually I wouldn't recommend a lawyer but this case is very serious. Getting off this one entirely or lightly would be worth the cost. If nothing else lawyers are privy to working the system; This is one you don't want on your record; Your insurance rates go up either right away or when you renew.

One thing to consider is to look up the dates of your conviction(s) that earned you the 6 points; Perhaps getting a continuance would take you beyond the time frame where points penalize you--just a thought

If you do not have a lawyer I would HIGHLY suggest getting one. Yes they cost more, but they also help, even if a little. 115mph is a lot over, what was the speed limit, 65? If so, you are pretty much in for a harsh punishment. Was it in the same county/region as your last ticket/offense? If so you will get the blunt of the punishment. Usually anything more than 6pnts constitutes suspension of driving privledges (in most states).

Get yourself a lawyer, if they are going to suspend your license you can always get a work license (meaning you can drive to and from work and on family matters ONLY).

I would not go into court without a lawyer and I would NOT speed again if I were you.

115 is a long way over. guilty helps has does your works letter but you must say that you are very sorry. the other thing that you could do is speak to the police and ask if there are any driver education classes that you could attend to improve your driving . it may not stop you getting a ban but it may shorten it a little .
oh and for gods sake slow down when you do drive again

If you were doing 115mph you deserve all you will get. With 6 points on your licence already, what were you thinking of?

Remember, £60 and 3 points is the minimum. For a blatant offence like this, I doubt whether you will emerge with a licence.

Just explain how you need your license for work, how much trouble it will cause you if you lose it that you will have to quit your jiob etc.

tell them you know you did wrong and understand you posed a risk to others on the road.

let them know that you don't want to make up some lies about why you were speeding, that you have no excuse for it and that you now realise that you were bieng inconsiderate of the consequences, that from now on you will plan your journeys out much better to enure you have plenty of time to get there and do not need to break the law.

other than that theres not much you can do, after 6 points you really should have taken things a bit easier.

good luck

Well you already have 6 points so it's not like this was your first offense. Plus you were doing 115 which insures they're going to throw the book at you. Your best bet is to say that you need anger management and maybe they'll give you that instead of jail. Even so your license is probably toast....that's what you get for speeding.

115 is criminal speeding. Not good. There're ways to get out of it, get a lawyer. If you can't afford one be your own. This is how you can get out of it. Subpoena as much stuff as you can think of. Like lidar certification of the officer and the district. Maintance records of the lidar. Etc. If only one of those things isn't in order you can argue that it was a mistake of the equipment used, and thus taking away the certainty the judge needs to sentence you.

First and foremost DON'T plead guilty or nolo contendre, plead NOT GUILTY. THEN get an atty and fight for your rights.
When one state (or country) says "unlimited speed limit OK" and a neighboring state (or country) says "your a criminal for speeding," the system is in fact broken. If you did not cause an accident, you will probably win in the appeal process.
