I'm going to try and start doing a little cardio in the mornings. Should it be 3x a week or 5x a week? I'm aiming for about 20 minutes to start (not a lot, but I haven't been doing ANY) And I don't want to burn out & need a program I can live with.

Let me know what you think . . .

3 times a week for 20 minutes is a great place to start.

When beginning a new discipline it is critically important that you start with something you can do. Even if it's only 5 minutes a day. 5 minutes a day won't do much for your wasteline, but it will start the discipline in a positive way.

After you've been doing the regimen for a few weeks then add a couple of days, or add some time to your routine. A little exercise is better than none at all.

Mix stretching, cardio and strength training in even doses if you can. There's a form called "Firm Ya Yas" that my wife is on and there are a ton of people that do fitness stuff all the time - my wife is a fanatic. You can get a ton of helpful and friendly advice from that group.

Good luck!

Ok, I would definitely suggest you start out at 3x a week. I am 25 years old, female, and I have been actively working out for about 5 years. Before that, I never did anything except the usual gym classes I had to take in high school. I never was or am overweight so I never really "needed" to work out. However, when I started 5 years ago, I started out on the tread mill; I couldn't even run for 5 minutes!! Now I run all the time. I run for an hour straight no problem. My point is that you are going to start out very slow but don't get disappointed! Each time you feel you can do it, add even one minute to your cardio. Before you know it you will do it no problem.

Like I said, I run but I change up where I run. For example, one day of the week I will go to the gym and run on the treadmill, another day I will run on the street by my house. Another day,I will do off road running on a trail by my house. Whatever works for you. You'll figure it out!

Good Luck!

start with 20 minutes 3x a week. But you should shoot for 5x a week for cardio. If you use weights, allow a day inbetween you do another weight day so you muscles can recoop. Hope this helps

start out very slowly. only do 10 or 15 minutes in a session if you have to. you will probably be very sore after the first few, but don't quit! that's where everyone fails. i would start out with 3 15 minute sessions per week and then work up to longer workouts and then more frequent workouts. your body will tell you when you are ready for more.

It sounds like that will get you off to a good start. Then you can gradually increase your time. The 3 - 5 times per week sounds good, try to go for 5 days most weeks. Good Luck.

start out with 3x/week and upgrade after 3 weeks of consistency. if you overwork in the beginning you will not lose weight, you may get sick, and you most likely will demotivate yourself.

your body gets used to the work you make it do after 3 weeks or so, so always do only what you can do and upgrade every month.

good luck and i hope this helps!
