He's been throwing up clear bile lately and sleeping more often than ever. He seems very lethargic and gets very irritaded. He never used to be like this. My other cat was lethargic and vomited clear bile a few months before he died. Whats going on here?

You know what, I think its really rude and disgusting that you people would be so cruel to say that about my cat. I obviously care about him a lot and to see him die would kill me. Don't be so harsh if you feel like telling me that, otherwise, if your gonna be rude about it, than you can just get out of here right now.

Wow! I can't believe how some folks answer these questions. It makes me afraid to ask anything ever again. Sorry. My two oldest cats had to be put down in 2005 and 2006. They were doing exactly what you describe, but this really could be a fixable problem. When you take the cat to the vets, they'll be able to tell you if it's her thyroid (a problem in older female cats), different diet needs, or if you should prepare to let her go. I'm sorry she's not her usual self but that's the difficult thing about animals - they do usually get old before we do.
Best of luck!

Learn from previous experiences and take this cat to the vet while they might still be able to do something for him. Good luck! I hope your cat gets better.

How old is old? Does he go outside? My cats all have done this at one time or another, and none died shortly after. It is probably an upset stomach. If your cat is truly old, like over 10, or could have eaten something poisonous outside, then I would take him to the vet.

Kidney failure, among other things. If it's not too far gone, the condition is treatable. Take the poor creature to the vet.
