When i was little i thought that maybe there was a big book that God has. In that book are two names. A woman's and a man's or a woman's and a woman's or a man's and a man's. Those two names are soulmates. They complete and compliment each other. I thought that those two people are the utter most complete people. You now? They are the best marriage for each other. 2 soulmates that are destined to meet. If so...how many people really find their soulmate? Do you think this is true? There are two people destined to meet?

honestly that is a good imagination you have there cause it makes life better. I mean you should know some thing there are and arn't mates in the world it all is the matter of your mind God does not make you love some one or make somebody eals to love you that is known as will power. you can make your own dicision in loving a person so if you could find that some one to love you the same way that you do then why not call that person your soule mate. But it is extrimly uniq to find that person. but still there are people in the world saying that they found thier soule mates so it deppends on how you and only you want to see it. Sorry if I said to much but your topic is the best that I have ever found in this Q&A, so I have to say thank you so much and I hope that I have answerd your question

As I read through the peole who have already answered your question, it appears there is a pattern.

I, personally, would like to, no scratch that, I would LOVE to believe that we all have a soul mate. Two people, straight or not, same gender or not would make no difference. There is another soul out there for you (and me).

So what pattern did I think I saw in your answers thus far? The more experiences one has in life and love, the more jaded they/we seem to become. I'd be willing to bet that those who found someone they liked a lot early on in their adult, romatic lives firmly believe in a soul mate. Those that have had rough times in romance - don't. It would be interesting to ask the ages of folks who answer.

I'm 37, male, and have thought - 3 times - that I'd found my soulmate in 3 different people. I'm ending this post here on purpose. ;-)

I think that each person has many potential soul mates. Imagine how hard it would be to come accross each other if there was only ONE person in the world who would be your perfect match. But whichever one of your "soulmates" you meet and stay with is the one you were destined to be with. I think that is why many people fall in love more that once before they find The One.

I don't necessarily think there is such things as soulmates; more of finding that one person that matches you; that compliments you in a way no other could. there may be millions of people that would be right for you; but that's the whole purpose of God allowing free will. You choose who you are with out of all those people.

I used to believe that myself. I now don't think that God micromanages our lives, if HE does that means we lack freedom of choice. I believe that God's will is for us to be happy and make good decisions in life.

There is such a huge romantic misconception out there that people marry for the feelings that are making them happy, when that person no longer makes them happy, suddenly the fairy tale relationship is done.

There is a great book called ARE YOU THE ONE FOR ME?
I would never marry again without going through that book with the guy and see how truely compatable we are.

I am not so jadded that I don't believe in love and romance. I am just cautious of the all consuming feeling that can cloud reality

The facts of marriage are that 50% of all of them end in divorce, 11% of the adult population is currently divorced, 25% of all adults have had at least one divorce during their lifetime, and Divorce rates among conservative Christians were significantly higher than for other faith groups, and for Atheists and Agnostics.

With these facts it can easily be concluded that destiny doesn't play a very big(if any) role in two people coming together.....If God truly was behind the fate of men and women coming together that the divorce rates would be a whole lot lower.

i thought there really was such a thing, that is until i met my "soulmate", married him, and he cheated, not just once, but several times with the same girl..

there is no such thing as soul mates, and chances are, there will always be someone more compatible with you than the person you marry.

sure you may feel like soul mates, and it would make life easier if there were such a thing, but meeting someone is strictly on a right place, right time basis.

Adam and Eve were soulmates basically after Lilith refused to be on bottom and left Adam to fly round at evening cavorting with Sammael and Adam whined to Yaweh that he mandatory yet another woman.

No not necessarily destined to meet bit there is someone out there that is very compatible with you--had the same upbringing for instance.
the trick is finding that person

I believe that you should love the person you marry. I also believe that no matter who you end up with you are in for some work. But if both of you are willing to compromise you will have a rewarding relationship.
