there is value to it. not everyone died of every disease before modern medicine 'arrived'... that means people used herbal and natural remedies and were able to cure or treat illness. many people still use these treatments or use them in combination with more conventional medicines.

Most pharmaceutical development is due to investigating claims of traditional herbal medicine and isolating the active components. Without this knowledge future treatments for diseases may not be found.

It's simple: some people simply don't have access to the medicine and technology of the city, and it is useful for those who normally do but find themselves in urgent situations where it is not available.

Furthermore, most "modern" medicinal drugs come from old herbal formulas and variations thereof.

it;s a huge part of healing, medicine and cosmetic, ointments--we need to always value ancient knowledge.....esp. since we're RE-discovering all the time thru studies that the ancients knew much more than we do today in many many ways ;o)

Because if it is still being used today there may be something to it that may prove useful-like milk thistle,echinacea,Ginko(for people who have dementia)and so many more
