Various scriptures change, based on whether you use "murder" or "Kill." The most glaring is "Thou shalt not Murder," (Exodus 20:13) which does not prohibit things like war and the death penalty. Other parts of the Old Testament, however, endorse death penalties for crimes, such as Deuteronomy 13:10, which says stoning is the punishment for worshiping idols.
I tend to think the "Sermon on the Mound" makes those differences irrelevant, but most Christians do not.

Obviously you don't know what you are talking about. A person who murders is a murderer and a killer. Killing is murder.
There will be no unconditional peace on earth as long as the earth is made up of sinful people.
Yes, I am sinful and yes, I am Christian. I am forgiven for my sinful nature.

Lets take an example a man comes into a bank and starts shooting people. He is a murder.
A cop comes in and shoots him yes he is a killer but he did it to save lives.
I know that doesn't sit well with peace activist but that is the reality of the world we live in.
There are people who are out to kill you and me. To kill them first is a good idea. Not all people can be reason with as we learn on 9/11.

Murder is a crime. It is also a sin. But killing is not always a crime nor a sin. If a police officer shoots a suspect in self defense, that is killing, but it is not murder. Likewise soldiers on the battlefield sometimes must kill, but they do not, and may not murder, as recent cases have illustrated. In both these cases there is no crime and no sin involved, even though killing occurs. Abortion is a different situation, wherein the sin of murder is committed, but tragically it is not recognized as a crime.

Sure. When someone comes to your house to rape your wife and take your stuff, enjoy your pacifism to its fullest.
I don't condone killing whatsoever, and I feel that "collateral damage" in incursions represents a proof that our society is as backwards as any other.
The main reason the distinction is made is that the ten commandments explicitly uses the Hebrew verb r-S-H which is not the generic form of "kill" but is associated with treachery/ambush.
Plus, God personally kills a lot of Jews and Gentiles alike in the Hebrew Bible, which is tough to reconcile with any killing being evil.
I'm not a christian, btw.

because TWITS are for ever confusing the two.
Many TWITS would be against a Police Officer shooting and KILLING a Weirdo who is about to throw an infant out a window.
Many TWITS would cry "MURDER".
There IS A DIFFERENCE!
That is why!
~~~~~~~
""can´t we have unconditional peace here, on our earth, finally? ""
OF COURSE NOT. NOT UNTIL HE/JESUS COMES!
Because when the church declares a jihad (excuse me, a crusade) they want to be able to kill Muslims or Jews or Protestants or Catholics or witches or Yankees or Confederates or Nazis or Japanese, or whomever, without violating the thou shalt not kill/murder commandment. It's not new with Christians. Jews used to slaughter various innocents in the name of god as well as did many of the religions of the time.
Well God, distinguishes between the two. (The taking of a life according to the LAW, and taking a life in cold blood).One would be for justice, and one IS murder. What does an atheist call abortion, if not murder?
