Go out with him... see how you guys click. Or try to hang out with him and his friends in a group, that way if you don't like him, you don't have to spend time with JUST him.
Good luck and just enjoy getting to know somebody knew. If it turns out u don't like him.... let him down easy ;-)

You should probably try to get to know more about him. Go grab lunch together and find if you have anything in common. Talk to him. If you find nothing in common then at least maybe you have a friend to talk to.

I think you should tell him how you feel...
Maybe you should go out with him only if you feel you are ready...Its not that big of a deal... may be you should go out with a couple of friends instead...
