You don't need any education to be a cop, as long as you can read and write. You COULD (like some people) work your way up from the bottom and become Chief of Police, in 40 years. Now, if you want to start off as an officer, you need to get yourself a degree in Criminal Justice.

Let me put it to you this way...
When I was in high school, I had it in my head that I wanted to be a cop. So, I joined the military and became a cop through guaranteed enlistment. My recruiter gave me a hard time because I had scored so high on the entrance exam... I could have had my pick of absolutely any job that the Air Force had to offer an enlisted person.
I found out that when a person gets a low score on the exam, they put them into training to be a cop.
Don't get me wrong, there are some cops that are very smart and highly educated.... But, it is also a dumping ground for some real dumb asses

You can walk in to the local police station and apply for a officer job but you have to have a high school diploma and no felonies on your record you would also have to complete their training. where I live the police department usually places an ad in the paper when they are hiring it states you only need a diploma

There are community-college level courses in "police fundamentals" but I'm pretty dubious about them. Increasingly police forces are looking for people with a university degree but often do not much care what that degree is. One popular major is sociology.

Cops obviously do not need any training. The more ignorant and starved for power the person, the better thay will fit in with other cops!

I don't think you need a college degree, though criminal justice degrees can come in handy. I think you just have to pass their training.
