I hear all these arguments against evolution, and there's nothing wrong with that, but YOU ARE a hypocrite if you're just going to say "God did it" for everything else like starlight reaching earth when it's millions of light-years away, a talking snake in the Garden of Eden, etc...

Not to mention that the old testament says there is a hard dome over the earth and that it is flat.

I don't just say God did it, but that evolution could not have done it.

As an example of whether evolution from a lower form of species is possible, I give you the Human Brain.

Studies, like that done by the University of Michigan, and features in the Discovery Channel program, The Amazing Life of the Human Brain, shows just how amazing the human brain is.

Every second while awake, we are absorbing 40MBs of data per second. That’s 144 gigabytes per hour and about 2 terabytes per day. That’s a lot of data even for the largest computer. When we sleep at night, and only at night or under nighttime conditions, all that data is sorted and stored through the creation of synaptic connectors and biochemical bounds. The brain has enough volume to allow for the creation of these storage connectors to last over 10,000 years.

Without the need of a creator, what evolutionary pressure could cause the need for this much volume that would take that long to fill? Clearly, man was either created by God to live that long, or if evolve, once lived that long, and has since de-evolved to what we are today. Which do you think it is?

Evolution does take place, in that animals have evolved and humans have de-evolved since the time of the creation. Many divergent species are related, such as the Meerkat/Hyena and the Lion/House cat. A house cat can breed with a lion, I wonder if the same is possible the Hyena and Meerkat?

This is why I believe in God. I use the brain he gave me, and designed for me, to determine something beyond imagining.

I have always held the position that Scripture tells us the "why" and science tells us the "how". I do not consider them incompatable. However, the problem I have with the way people defend evolution is they do so in a way as to deny that there is a God in the first place.

There are a lot of issues with Darwinian macroevolution. Modern discoveries have shot down a lot of the early assumptions he had. However, if you have a problem with the thought of a Crator God haking the world as it is, I have no problem discussing the issues there either.

By the way, God did do it. And eventually we may be able to find out how. Until then, as the Bible says, "come, let us reason together". (Isaiah 1:18).

I do believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all inhabitants therein. But, I do have a problem with taking the bible, not only Genesis, literally.

You have to understand that Genesis has to do with religion, not science. The believers of Genesis are simply that, "believers". They can't prove anything and so therefore, they get to believe whatever they want. Its ok. There is plenty enough room in this world for all kinds of believers, and non-believers, for that matter. Its all a matter of personal choice and has nothing to do with being able to prove anything.
You believe in science and I'm telling you that's ok, just like I tell other people who believe in other things that that's ok. It is the intolerance of difference that is the danger here. Beware that you do not fall prey to its lure.

I dont take Genesis literally. I believe it's mostly symbolism.

Also ... Both theories require the belief in miracles. Creationism is more believable because God is the only being that is capable of miracles. Evolution is the belief that miracles happened for no reason at all. Just because.

A hypocrit is a person who says one thing and then does the opposite.

There is a distinct difference between science and faith. Faith is believing without observing. Science, by deifinition, requires observation. You are comparing apples and oranges and therefore, logically, there is no hypocrisy.

Because there is no science behind creation... it's all conjecture. The talking snake, and light being "created" before the "creation" of ligh sources should be a dead giveaway.

"god did it" is no answer. It's a cop-out.

Why bother. Delusions are defined by the fact that they are impervious to reason.
