not really. your diet and caloric intake are the most important influence on how much fat you carry around your waist. if you watch what you eat, do cardio exercise, and lots and lots of crunches, you will see the improvement you want to see in your waist line.
good luck!

I don't know what the ab lounger is, but if it is a crunch type of machine where you actually do the work then it can help buld your abs, but it will do so no better than doing regular crunches.
It will not make you lose your gut however. There are only two ways to do that:
1- is to cheat, go see a plastic surgeon and pay money out the *** for what you can do for free with healthy eating and excercise, or
2- learn about nutrition and eat properly and healthy and supplement it with excercise.
What you eat is most of the battle, you can't lose weight while eating like crap and working out, you can however lose your gut by eating healthy and not working out at all. This is simple math, because it takes you longer to burn off more in the gym than it does to take it in. The gym is no substitute for an unhealthy eating lifestyle.
Losing your gut will require a lifestyle change. DON'T focus on a fad diet, learn about nutrition and how your body works.
I reccomend Eat Drink and be Healthy, the Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating. It is a nutrition book not a diet book. It is good but any book that is really about nutrition and not about selling a diet is good.
working your abs however will build your abs so when you burn away your gut then they will be visible.

it is a lot of money
I personally think if you really want to lose the gut you should get a personal trainer
they are free at the fitness center I go to
if you go to dick's sporting goods you can try the ab lounger out for yourself... I think its pretty fun but I never really "feel the burn"
