Some Illegal Immigrants Are Re-Arrested 6 Times

By LARA JAKES JORDAN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Illegal immigrants who were caught but released in the United States may have been re-arrested as many as six times, Justice Department data released Monday indicates.

The findings by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine are based on a sampling of 100 illegal immigrants arrested by local and state authorities in 2004, the latest complete data available. They show that 73 of the 100 immigrants were arrested, collectively, 429 times - ranging from traffic tickets to weapons and drug charges.

What are the stats for a group of 100 criminals that are not immigrant? How many of them re-offend?

Why are they coming to the US? Is it because of the fabulous opportunities and lifestyle or is it because much of those fabulous opportunities and lifestyle are the result of imports of goods at slave labor rates? Why would they want to escape that? Once here, there is little they can do in many cases except crime. And where are they getting the weapons and drugs? From other illegals or from your friends and neighbors?

I was going to say that the solution would be simple: lock up the 73 immigrants and you will eliminate 429 crimes. Except the conclusion does not logically follow.

Being arrested does not mean that you have commited a crime. Hence, the judicial system. If they are the criminals that they are made out to be, why are they free to be arrested again and again?

There is no coincidence to it--They are breaking the law by being here. How do you expect anything else from them.
You can paint a zebra any color that you choose, but you still have a zebra.
If one knowingly breaks one law, he will break another, no exceptions.
It is impossible to live within the law if you are illegal.
