Sorry, I didn't read the whole sob story of how you are 13 and you know everything and are oh, so responsible.
Here's the truly mature and responsible thing; you still live under mom and dad's roof. Self expression or not, until you move out, you need to respect their wishes and uphold good family relations. I've been there and wanted to do what you are thinking of doing, and then I realized that some things can wait and that something like this should wait. You won't be able to hide it and the fact that you would hide it shows your disrespect for your parents and how truly immature you would be for putting yourself at a potential health risk. Often hiding piercings ends with infections from poor cleaning and care choices.
I'm not on your parents side and I don't mind self piercing if you are already trained and knowledgeable about it. However, as a professional body piercer I refuse to help you is disrespecting your mom and dad and causing more troubles than you are aware of.
But what does it matter...you're 13 freaking years old and know everything there is to know...silly me

I would really think twice before doing that yourself. First of all if your parents found out, and more than likely they will, there goes their trust in you. I have no idea how you could possibly hide a lip ring! And self piercing is crazy. I have had several friends who ended up very disappointed due to self piercings. There are so many things that could go wrong! Not only infection, and bad placement, what if you grow a keloid? Then you will have this crazy lump on your lip where everyone can easily see it. And that is not sexy. I have nothing against piercings, I have 5 myself. My parents were anti-piercing also and I had to wait until I was 18 before I got any of them. Bad,infected piercings are nasty and more likely to happen in an unsterile environment. Please really consider the risks before you do this. Do you have the right size needle and jewelry? Do you have gloves and the proper disinfectant for a mouth piercing? What are you going to do if it starts getting infected? How will you ensure proper placement and make sure that is not crooked or too angled? And how on earth will you hide a piercing in your lip? Just a thought.

I would highly recommend not going the self piercing route. You are right you could probably hit a vein/nerve in the face, but you also need to worry about infection especially it being that close to your mouth, do you know how many germs are around your mouth? I was 13 once too and wanted my eyebrow pierced so a friend and I tried piercing ourselves and it was just a big mistake. Doing it yourself as well you have a higher chance at creating a big scar on your face and if you're "pretty hot" already why would you want to have a big scar on your face in the future? What happens when you go to a job interview or on a date with a really cute guy when your 22 y/o and have a huge scar on your face where you tried to pierce yourself? Please honey wait. I know it sounds like a long time until your 18, but it will fly by before you know it.

yep, you're 13 years old, and your PARENTS have to listen to you, just because you want snakebites,
you're the most responsible person you know?
what type of responsibilities could you possibly have?
oh that's right....... paying bills, working full time, raising a teenager, who doesn't want to obey the rules? you're right.......the typical life of a responsible 13 year old.
I'm guessing that you haven't realized by now that your parents are not disrespecting your opinion, or right to self expression, and that there is a reason that you are ONLY 13.
but since you want these snakebites so much, why don't you go ahead and buy your own house while you're at it, and a car too, you should just go ahead and move out on your own.......since you're so responsible and everything, that should just be a piece of cake for you!
oh wait, you're ONLY 13!
what was that word you used again, responsible?
that's right, responsible people just like you still have to come to a public community for advice on how to pierce themselves, avoid hitting a vain, risking infection, and learning how to hide the piercings.......shouldn't responsible people like you already know these things?
oh right i forgot, you're ONLY 13!
why don't you finish going through puberty first, before you try disrespecting the people that put a roof over your head, unless you did that too, since you're so responsible and everything!
how responsible are you again??

You CANNOT hide a lip ring. You have to keep a ring inside the piercing for at least three months in order for it to heal properly. If you continually remove it it will just grow back and leave a scar. Why don't you grow up a little and learn to respect your parents wishes. Wait until you're old enough to get it done professionally.

I've had plenty of piercings and have loved them all, but waited till I was 18 and out of the house before I did it. Seriously, you're gonna be arguing with your parents over a lot of things over the next few years--why make it worse by going behind their back?
And don't get me started on self piercings. Obviously you haven't done enough research on piercings yet to know the dangers of not going to a professional. You really don't want to end up with some nasty bacteria or blood disease just to prove a point to your parents. Hepatitis is not a fun disease to live with for the rest of your life.

NOOO!! Whatever you do don't do it yourself! Like you mentioned, there are nerves you must avoid,( you can actually paralize parts of your face!)plus it will hurt sooo much worse at home. Piercing facilities have the experience and proper tools for the job. And your parents will be SO mad. It is not worth it, trust me.

Don't even go there right now. First, you're legally too young and NO body shop worth it's business license would touch you even with your parents there with you. Second, your folks are already against it at your age. Just relax and wait until you're eighteen to get pierced.

My buddy percied her lip and apparently really solid. First try a sparkling needle like a stitching needle and kinda get it through then use a sparkling earring and bypass all through. My buddy pericied her lip and he or she reported it did not damage in any respect she loves it recognize. Now she has the monroe percing and her septum done.
